Recurring problem

It seems like after reaching a certain level (800-1300D), other players get intimidated and go after you with little to no antagonization. Discuss.

Draw or strong second place finish?

Which is better - to draw among three+ players or to come in a strong second place where it is simply recorded as surviving? (Related question - in a PPSC game, does a second-place finish pay out differently than a draw - or would it be the same assuming the same number of SCs?)

In the game they all played together 6 of the countries made moves only in 1901 and all they did was get out of their home SD and clear the the way for the 7th country to pick up as many as possible.

Let me guess, it was a WTA game with a 100 point buy-in. Quick way to jump up to 700 points, I guess. Heck, if he could keep getting away with it, he could keep adding 600 points a pop. Good catch on that.

Gee you want someone to take over the Austria where in Fall 01
Germany moved to Munich, Russia move to Galicia, Was supported to Rumania by the Turks in the Black Sea and the Turks took Greece and Bulgaria.
Tempting to turn around that game, but I am at my 6 game max taking over anther Italy that went NMR on the world....

Once someone is banned for multi-accounting is their IP blocked? If not, it might help. I can imagine that the first thing this banned idiot would want to do is sign up some more accounts...

That only works for static/sticky, public IPs. If there IP is behind a DHCP firewall (like at an office) then you are blocking everyone in that office. If there IP is provided by an ISP, but changes periodically, it would block the next person assigned that IP address and lall they would have to do is tell their DSL/Cable Modem to release and renew their IP.

If we were only dealing with adults we could require use of a verified credit card as ID...

Or ::shiver:: if we required a small fee to sign up that would seriously discourage multi-accounters (especially kids). I get enough enjoyment from this site to justify spending a few bucks. On that note - I'm going to back that up by donating right now.

As a college student who can barely make ends meet as it is, I wouldn't be able to play here if there was a fee...though I will certainly donate once my situation is more favorable, this site is awesome.

@ Dexter Morgan and all, I'd happily pay a modest fee - but no offence, not to the site as its currently set up. To join a serious online diplomacy "club" site, knowing as well that some of the funds would go to best-possible graphics and features? Absolutely. They could even serve decent scotch in the "Lounge."

Why does this site occassionally change it's focus without warning or cause?

It's frustrating to be typing and suddenly have your cursor change it's focus to the address bar or something and it only happens here at phpDiplomacy.net, so it isn't a trojan or virus.

Well poised game seeks Italian Stallion, GSOH required

Great game shaping up here... but a great opportunity for someone who wants to join and take over an untouched Italy (3 home supply centres intact, no-one attacking and plenty of opportunities nearby). Needless to say, I have an interest as I'm playing Russia... I look forward to hearing from you.

Suggestion

I think there should be an "End" option that players can vote for. This is similar to a draw, but the points are divided up by Supply Center, not split evenly. Only players with more than three SCs can vote for this.

Support Hold Question

If I support Hold a country that is moving, if that country gets attacked will the attack be canceled (despite the support Hold) .... (e.g. Munich to Kiel ... Burgundy Support Hold Munich .... Tyrolia to Munich (enemy))

will my unit still be able to support move if under attack by another unit if my unit is being suppo

for example ruhr moves to kiel, munich supports that move. munich is in turn support holded by burgandy. tyriolia moves to munich.
will munich still be able to support that move?

The pot is 1915 points. The Italian player has completed two previous games, being defeated once and surviving with five centers in the other. Italy does not appear to ever have been in civil disorder, so he's an original player. Even if there may have been a replacement player or two that increased the pot, how did a noobie have enough points to join this game when it started? What am I missing?

He's in this game with me as Italy, and may be multi-accounting E or F. France is submitting hold orders for all units season after season without going into cd, despite being able to take Bre back. England has acted irrationally throughout.
