I do not what happened
I jointed a game named "The Spanish vol5", if my memory does not fail, in the stage of pre-game. Now, it seems having disapeared. Can somebody explain me the situation? Thanks a lot

Is there anyone left who is willing to play a big game? I'm thinking around 300 point buy-in, PPSC, but I'll be flexible on the buy-in. Any takers?

Trolling attempt from a real account
Everything about the site is wrong.

1) You don't roll dice to see how far you move.
2) You can't buy neutral countries when you land on them.
3) You don't get to collect rent when someone lands on your country.
4) Where's Community Chest?

Some Clarifications Needed
Hey all,

This is my first time playing Diplomacy - woot woot! :)

While I'm really looking forward to getting into my first couple of games, I have a couple of questions I was hoping you could help me sort out....

1. Let's assume that as Russia, I have armies in both Ukraine and Galicia while Rumania is unoccupied. I want to attack Rumania from Ukraine with support from Galicia. Using phpDiplomacy's interface, is this how I would issue the order?

The army at Ukraine move to Rumania.
The army at Galicia support move to Rumania from Ukraine.

2. Let's assume that as Russia, I have armies in both Ukraine and Galicia while Rumania is occupied by a Turkish army. I attack Rumania from Ukraine with support from Galicia. Turkey successfully attacks an undefended Budapest from Rumania on the same turn. What is the result?

Do I take over Rumania while Turkey takes over Budapest?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Speed game proposal
Hi, I have a two week vocation coming starting from Friday & if anybody would be up to a speed game, I would be interested. Decent & timely are expected, buy-in wouldn't matter - could be as low as necessary. 2 moves per day could be expected, quick retreat & build phases. Time zones 0 up to +3 GMT would be preferred. Anybody interested?

Alternatively no press game could be started as well (which wouldn't be that exiting though...).

Variant Game
An odd variant based on press rules:

You are not allowed to speak to any player whose land you could feasably enter within three moves without using a convoy from an enemy fleet. This means that, at the start, England may not speak to France, Germany or Russia. This means that to communicate with somebody nearby you must use the help of another power elsewhere. Global press is also prohibited, except to announce who may post messages to who.
Is anyone interested in such a variant?

Legal moves.
I have options to convoy that don't seem possible, so my question is, is the Game set to show only possible legal moves. I have a Fleet in the gulf of lyons, and It says I can convoy from spain to Tunis, or Northat africe, without a fleet touching those countries.

Kestas - please ban these morons
mapleleafrulz has taken over a cd in one of my games and has posted a global message in a pathetic attempt to paint me as a multi. This is totally malicious; well beyond the childish moniker previously used by this individual.
As this idiot, and mapleleafisiacnt, are likely the same idiot and logging on from a country other than Canada, just ban him/her and every other user from the IP.
The really sad thing about all of this is that people with whom I have played in many games are actually questioning my integrity.

Definite tall poppy syndrome for Madmarx sadly. Looks like some conspiring by near neighbours...

Mind you, impressive press must have gone into suggesting that England not take Norway, and Germany not bounce from Sweden. And Turkey not attack with Austria. Well done!

It's obvious right away that there's a jug going on, and England probably wanted to attack France initially (perhaps an alliance between Russia and England was formed) but overall, I'm not that impressed.

This game has been very interesting to me, especially with my limited experience on this site. Before joining, I was used to playing with family, friends, and friends of friends. Some of these guys were the biggest lying, backstabbers you would ever play against. Anyway, when I joined this site, I fully expected everyone to be even worse since I didn't even know any of the people on this site. To my surprise, I went from the "100% honest" guy, to being relatively ruthless at times against players that were largely very trustworthy. By the time my win percentage started to get noticed, I had adjusted my strategy for a relatively honest atmosphere... Then I joined this game and have been treated to the extremely cut-throat competition I had expected when I first joined this site, though unfortunately for me, I have attempted to be relatively trustworthy in this game and have kept my word on every agreement I have made... I have no complaints, what comes around goes around, but I was hoping to disappoint a little less!! ;-)

The MAtRiX (0 DX)
07 Jun 08 UTC
Hey, it's The MAtRiX!!

You forgot to share the joke you sent me the season before I sent you my joke:

"I [Chairman Mao / Turkey] think for the benefit of both sides, when we meet, we shouldnt fight."

Anyway, I guess that was my way of saying that if you don't think we should fight, then don't!! ;-)
The MAtRiX (0 DX)
07 Jun 08 UTC
For the record, here's what I sent Chairman Mao, verbatim, after he told me "we shouldn't fight", he has twisted things a bit:

"Do you want to finish this quickly, by giving me a few of your supply centers, or do England and I have to kill you off completely?! ;-) "

Didn't you see the wink afterwards?!?!
Chairman Mao (340 D)
07 Jun 08 UTC
I dont want to turn this into a forum for 2 of any kind, and my post was of no offense either, but i guess to give away SCs ≠ not to fight...
The MAtRiX (0 DX)
07 Jun 08 UTC
No offense was taken, I'm just saying, I was joking around with you and were making it out like I go around making stupid demands and expect people to roll over and die merely because I want/ask them to... Regardless, good luck with Turkey, there is much work to be done on both our parts!!

MadMarx (36299 D(G))
09 Jun 08 UTC
Hey, for the record, your game was the 11th game I joined on this site... The eighth game I joined was as The MAtRiX and that will be a win shortly, though I know it isn't a win as MadMarx... There are two outstanding games as MadMarx that are far but over, but I am alive and the fat lady hasn't sung on those games, so the jury is still out!! :-)
flashman (2274 D(G))
09 Jun 08 UTC
Sorry that you had to go so early there Marx, but it goes with the combination of 'good record player stuck with a dodgy country to start with'.

I see though that you mjanaged to put The boot in before you left (carefully noted in little black book). And...

We have a new Tall Poppy.
MadMarx (36299 D(G))
09 Jun 08 UTC
Yes, flashman, please note in your little black book that when you take one of my home supply centers in 1901 and then lie to me about your moves in consecutive seasons after that, I may indeed have a parting gift for you!! ;-)

I think MadMarx made a huge mistake. He played too well, and attracted too much attention. Sometimes it is better to be second once in a while or finish in a draw to avoid that. Now he is going to suffer from paranoid neighbours for a while.
flashman (2274 D(G))

Rules
1) In Diplomacy if you move through a country it is yours. Yet in this game it reverts back to neutral.
2) In Diplomacy at the end of the autumn turn you can exchange an army for a navy or a navy for an army. There is no option to do so in this game. This puts England, Italy and Turkey at a disadvantage and helps France and France is already in one of the strongest positions in the game.
3) It two units are attacking one unit and the defending unit attacks the supporting unit the defending unit remains in place. This is making one unit stronger than two units. This is stagnation and a direct violation of the basic rules of the game as stated on the front page of this site. Support would need to be broken by a fourth unit

I just do not care to play under these rules. Thanks anyway.
