Resulting Fallacy
This article is about decision making in poker, but I think it equally applies to Diplomacy and well lots of other things too. I think a lot of players, including myself, fall into this trap of believing everything that works was a good decision and everything that doesn't was a bad one.

Brainstorming on getting more no-press live classic games
Arg! We had 6 for a no-press (i.e. no-chat) live game tonight, no cigar. And there haven't been a lot of no-press Many years ago, my FTF Dip crew had a similar problem ... some wanted and had time for no-press, others didn't, so we couldn't get 7 ... and we came up with a neat solution, which I'll share in a minute. But first ... anyone have advice on how we drum up support for a live no-press game?

Oklahoma for Native Americans!
Oklahoma was cursed ever since it was stolen from the Native Americans. All the 'white' and 'brown' and 'black' and 'asian' folks (and any other non-native folks) should pack up and leave to texas or some place else and give it back. What say you?

New video series on Diplomacy
New project for me: Diplomacy Academy. Its still a bit rough as I'm working out the best way to execute in the format. I think there's some value to be had and its improving! https://goo.gl/yxGQbY

I'd recommend looking at the videos Triumvir (where is taht guy, anyway?) did. I think they're up on YouTube

I like what Triumvir was doing - I'm aiming to go a little deeper than the commentary I've seen (haven't watched them all).

I loved Triumvir's vids but I wish they were more topic-focused than game-focused.

Thanks for doing this. It is worth $3 a video to support this diplomacy project on Patreon. If you want to learn Diplomacy from a master, this small investment gives you a huge return.

Feedback on the last video, it wasnt clear to me who peter and john(?) were. It'd probably be easier to follow if you referred to them as Turkey and Austria.

Really great vids though, there were some nuggets there that I'm going to integrate into my play.

Aha, Apologies - I think you mean Chris Brand and Andrew Goff - Italy and Russia - I think I edited out the bit where I called them out specifically. Peter and David were labeled in the first video (I think?!?). Glad you enjoyed it and found it useful.

If registration costs are a significant deterrent, please message whipping@bayareadiplomacy.org to discuss arrangements.

Hotel room block information will be posted soon (as soon as I get the necessary links/codes from the venue!)

As for travel... SJC is your best bet on airports, but transport to/from SFO and OAK can be arranged as well. For those in the Bay, Caltrain and Amtrak are great options and drop off a half mile from the venue at Diridon station.

I had the full schedule posted in a thread a month ago but I've got about 300 muted threads and 20 muted profiles and it's probably in one of them and I'm not willing to figure it out sorry. Maybe someone else can dig it up who remembers what I'm talking about...

If you can only attend one, make it WDC, October 5-7, in Washington DC. Otherwise, I'd suggest picking one that's close to your location.

What Defines A New Player?
Hey everyone i was just browsing the new games to see if there were anything interesting that i could join when i stumbled across a game that had the requirement of 'New Players Only' and i was wondering how to make 'New Player' quantifiable. What is the time between you join till you are considered not a 'New Player.' Or in essence are we all new players?
