Cookie Monster Solutions
Instead of regulations, (YAWN), lets have unrestricted gun laws and limitless purchasing. The only rule is the retail employees *must* dress like cookie monster to make gun stores more kid friendly. Offer gun buyers a plate of CoOKiEs.

Mansplaining and manscaping
I heard people use the term mansplaining recently. It was negatively stigmatized but what does it even mean? Also I head people saying something about manscaping and I wondered if that was a type of yard work. Any input is appreciated.

Spring 1901 NMR
What provisions are there in general for dealing with players who NMR on the first turn? Should we simply agree on a draw and try and rebuild the game with new players? Is there a way to bring in replacements?

New York is the best.
Now that I've gotten everybody's attention, would anybody be interested in playing a game of American Empire where everybody plays as the region that they are from? I think that might be kinda fun and could be a way to release some of this clearly geographical tension that is brewing in the forums.
I'd have to claim NY

Trump blunders around Asia, returns home to more scandal
Trump blunders around Asia offending allies. Meanwhile Jeff Sessions "cannot remember" what went on at important meetings when "giving evidence". Further evidence of the inadequacy of gun controls in the USA with her another tragic shooting at a School.

Replacement player needed for public, non-anon World Diplomacy game
Game: http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=207427
India has disappeared and we need a replacement player. His position is still pretty good, so lots of potential there. If you are game, we'll try contacting a mod to swap you in so that there isn't another NMR.

What does Bhm. Sea stand for in the modern map version?
In the modern map, there's a territory named Bhm. Sea. What does that stand for? I always assumed Bohemian Sea though that doesn't exist (and the sea isn't close to Bohemia). Perhaps it is Bornholm Sea (after the Danish island in the Baltic in that area)?

When Is The New Forum Going Live?
I had a quick look at the forum a while ago. It looked good to me. Any idea when it may go live? On a completely unrelated note - any chance we may turn SSL on for the site?
A_Tin_Can (2249 D)
13 Nov 17 UTC
SSL is a nice to have, but I don’t think it’s as simple as turning it on.
flash2015 (1447 D (G))
14 Nov 17 UTC
It shouldn't be too complex - it is one domain and no third party content. The hardest part is ensuring the cert gets updated on expiry.
Do we only have one domain? All three of webDiplomacy.net, webDiplomacy.com, and the IP url can access the site.
flash2015 (1447 D (G))
14 Nov 17 UTC
webdiplomacy.com currently redirects to a domain squatter (hugedomains.com)
Whoops. My mistake. vDip's the one with both .com and .net. We definetely have two domains, but I thought we had three.
A_Tin_Can (2249 D)
14 Nov 17 UTC
What’s the other domain? I thought we only had webdiplomacy.net (with the site accessible with or without www)
Right. That's probably what I was mixing up.
There's also some IP domain thing, I think (which I don't fully understand).

That's just a direct link. Nothing terribly special about it.

You really should never need to access by the direct IP link since the IP (depending on the setup) could change. I don't believe SSL is a very complex thing to do. Get a cert from letsencrypt, update apache/nginx (or whatever server you use) to open 443 and configure SSL for that port. Both SSL and non-SSL can run simultaneously so for users that don't care nothing needs to change. If there are no problems with SSL a decision can be made at a later point to automatically switch everyone to SSL and setup certbot to automatically renew the SSL cert.
