Here's two observations.. The "mass media" might not disseminate a unified message, and not all media organisations are necessarily "left-wing". It is just possible that some major media organisations ( hint.. Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation ) are effective proselytisers of Conservative causes. It's also possible that the notion that ultra Conservatives are " independent thinkers" is just a self comforting myth. Gosh, imagine the distressing idea that moderates are actually the independent thinkers, who dare to reject the ideologies of the extremists on the left, and right.
