Might I suggest confining your multitude of questions to just one thread Maltir.

Never stop asking questions Maltir, it's how you learn.

Just don't ever ask the same question twice.

Maltir, while we appreciate the desire and enthusiasm for learning about this game, I would suggest your queries would be more easily and quickly answered with the aid of the rulebook, which can be found online with ease.

I'm sorry Orathaic, but it was easy enough to do without my help that it wasn't worth doing.

i actually don't think the rulebook is that helpful... it is super dense and a difficult read. Once you know the rules and have played a few games, then you should probably read it, but not before (ie not while you're asking where switzerland is...).

Thanks to those nice enough to help. I'm sorry for the many threads, I am finally starting to get my sea legs around here.
Also, looks like someone created a thread specifically for questions, so I'll continue my never ending questions there.
I have looked through the rulebook, but it really isn't that useful.
Additionally, I'm dyslexic, so reading that many words at once can be...well...uncomfortable, to say the least.

Cheers,
Mal

Now I will talk about farm land. Farm land can be identified by some common features. They almost always consist of a very large patch of dirt with small green plants lined up in very long rows. You may sometimes see farm equipment riding over these rows, like tractors or combines. These machines help farmers grow more crops in less time. They are a very helpful invention. Some different types of crops are soybeans, cotton, corn, tomatoes, tobacco, and lettuce (which I mentioned earlier). Most crops are used as food, and can be defined as either fruits or vegetables. Some are commonly eaten raw, after being rinsed in water to remove any dirt. Some are often cooked, which helps give them a more pleasant taste and makes them easier to chew. A very versatile vegetable is the potato. It can be eaten raw, or it can be cooked in a variety of ways. They can be baked, and many people like to add butter to them. They can be mashed, and a lot of times brown gravy or milk gravy is poured on top of them. They can be cut into thin strips and fried. Typically a large amount of grease is required to prepare potatoes in this style, but they are easy to make and easy to eat. You can order them at several fast-food restaurants. Potatoes can also be boiled, stewed, and scalloped. There is a wide variety of options available to you when cooking potatoes.

Balance in Modern Variant
I just got back into diplomacy after a two year hiatus and looking back at my old games I've noticed that the modern variant has big differences in skill required to be successful between countries. So I ask, has anyone been successful with Ukraine or Egypt?

It appears on some old games (example: http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=6869#gamePanel).

Appears really confusing, I can't figure out what is supposed to happen witht the points. Why was it removed by the way?

Biggest Pot Game in webDiplomacy HISTORY
Just as it says in the subject line. I've been tasked with helping set up the biggest point game in webDiplomacy History. Probably in part because it's way above my number of points so I'm beneath taking part myself.

It's going to be *fully* anonymous; aka no one (besides myself) will know which 7 players are in the game. If you want to take part, or have any questions about the game, PM me for the password/details. Game link here: http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=205041

As long as we're doing weird game variants. How about:
