Premier League 2017/18
Predictions and thoughts so far
JamesYanik (548 D)

i love the Premier League and wanted to start a thread on it earlier, but I'm also really lazy and people were talking about Nazis.

these are just a few quick thoughts on the table as it stands now

1. Man Utd

two 4-0 wins, against two... not so good sides. still a strong start, and look legitimately good so far. Mourinho's second season... 0.0

2. West Brom

west brom in a UCL place? disappointing, i predicted the title. but seriously they were a strong outfit last season, and they're not dropping points. good on them

3. Watford

Besides having the greatest Italian player currently, since Totti retired, in Okaka, Watford has made a fairly solid start, and look threatening. Relegation fears not coming to fruition.

4. Liverpool

Coutinho on the way out it seems, and Van Dijk in purgatory. An opening draw barely remedied by a second round win against Crystal Palace by one goal... after Palace lost 3-0 to huddserfield. things to work on in the Liverpool camp, but creativity galore. and by galore, i mean Mane.

5. S'hampton

Most boring game ever against the swans, and then an ultimately dramatic win against West Ham. Too bad they're selling literally everyone to Liverpool next season, there's still so much talent in the squad

6. Huddersfield

bro. brooooooo. BROOOOOOOOOO. this was the instant match reaction by drunk Huddersfield fans last week. They're not in 20th, which is a success, and they look to have fight in them yet

7. Man City

for a purely dominant game against brighton, a 2-0 scoreline shows some frailty up top for City. selling Iheanacho when you have so many games with rotation?? but still, Guardiola's men have so much talent. they'll probably finish 7th :]

8.Tottenham

They didn't buy anyone, haven't improved on their team, and i think they'll finish second. that said, plenty of games to go, and Wembley as a home ground could prove harmful. Just ask West Ham

9. Leicester

Jamie Vardy looks good again, and Leicester are proving to us once again that no matter how well they play, they simply cannot beat Arsenal.

10. Everton

So much money paid for the new troops, and Europa league will wear on them, Gylfi Thor Sigurdsson, sexiest man in Iceland, signed though so that's a plus. and Rooney got a goal! I'm just surprised he's still able to jump he looks so old. and wide

11.Arsenal

Arsenal dug in deep and proved that they could grind out results against... Leicester... but... Stoke were too much for them. Hmm. #WengerOut

12. Burnley

One away win all of last season, already completed on the first day, but their excellent home form torn apart by... West Brom.

13. Stoke

Sell your 6'4" Austrian monster and buy a guy named Jese. but hey, it worked!

14. Swansea

Sigurdsson gone, and they've yet to score a goal. surprised? you REALLY shouldn't be

15. Chelsea

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

16. Newcastle

Jonjo Shelvey you bastard. if it weren't for you sending off, newly promoted Newcastle would have trounced Champions league side Tottenham!

17. B'mouth

Signing Defoe no longer prevents relegation as Sunderland showed us. Cherries be warned

18. Brighton

nice job getting back up. see you in 2040-something

19. Crystal Palace

nice job getting your ass beaten by Huddersfield and Liverpool. I mean i can kind of understand one of them... but LIVERPOOL? come on

20. West Ham

You can sign as many players as you want, but you can't sign back Upton Park.

It seems. :)
Of course, lovely Liverpool that I love unhappily could remove someone someone (maybe Tottenham). :)

I'm an Everton fan, all biases made known:

Liverpool needs to get Van Dijk. Getting him alongside Matip, with Richardson and Clyne on the flanks could be the difference between a UCL finish w/ potential title run OR a Europa league scramble.

United look horrifyingly good. solid professionalism in their performances so far, although the quality of the sides is in question...

Yes. Who knows what will happen, it's really to early. Although, Arsenal will be fourth, at least we know that.

It is not OK to punch ISIS and Al qaeda members
If ISIS and Al Qaeda wanted to hold a march calling for death to America and a fundamentalist caliphate to take over the US then any who attack them or inhibit their right to free speech are evil violent people

What do you all think about Faustian stories?
Diplomacy is a great playground for turning on friends for personal advantage, and I'm pretty sure everybody might compromise their held virtues for a little harmless gain in most places of their lives. Do you all think Faustian narratives are on point the more we all trod into the great 21st century, or is the devil obsolete and unversed in the digital age?

"New Game" page needs correction.
When creating a game and selecting the pre-phase length, the description says up to 5 days but the dropdown gives only up to 2.5 days.

Leaving the grey arrow
Is there any bigger asshole than the guy who's doomed to defeat and puts in his moves with a grey arrow so that everyone has to wait a day or more each phase? Of course everyone goes out of town sometimes or is unable to get to the site for some reason, but someone who does it faithfully every turn should be banned. It's the behavior of a crybaby.

Instead of having 17 threads each time he does something new, let's have this one so anyone that doesn't want to deal with Trump can just mute it! (ps is it possible to self mute?)

To even bring up the neo Nazi terrorist attack in Charlottesville today, and the fact that the President made the weakest denunciation of terrorism ever, )except perhaps for his non response to the attacks in Quebec and Minnesota)

Anarchists in the US
"if we possess any sort of freedom today in this society, it is the result of all the times people defied and overthrew governments, not because of the times they were obedient. If not for disobedience, we would still be living under the rule of kings."
