Posting links to pictures of messages?
Is that allowed in the rules? Ie. in an anonymous game, Italy is betrayed by Russia, so posts a link to an image posting site which shows the chat between the two? It seems like it shouldn't be but I can't see where it's prohibited.

Ghost rating question
I read the explanation on the GR website. I get that eliminating players in WTA improves the GR gain.
Do I understand correctly that an effort was made to make the GR score in SoS games based on centre count, but not implemented ultimately? So one should still kill off small powers (at the expense of centres elsewhere) to improve GR gains?

Paused game issues.
Does anyone know how to contact mods to help unpause games? I have one that's been on pause all month (game id: 199383) and one still on pause since 2014 when I was in high school (game id: 128401). Any way to terminate/resume/draw these games?

The voting buttons
I'm not entirely the "cancel" button does. It seems to have no propose to me. But one button I do recommend is a "kick" button for inactive players as they severely slow the game down. Of course, be a minimum time or number of turns before it's an option.

Dr Who and Gender recognition
http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2017/07/17/doctor-who-we-regret-to-inform-you-that-you-are-still-legally-a-man/
I know this is mostly meant to be fun (and a serious look at gender recognition laws in the uk) but i make me question one thing.

Is the spousal veto a necessary thing? From a purely contractual perspective. Can't you go 'well if your spouse isn't happy with your new gender, then they will have to apply for divorce.' ??? Thoughts?

Time to restore and rejuvenate McHammer
McHammer has no control of his finances. He confided to Slypups that his bill payments would be so far in the future that they'd never happen, but then CAPT Brad go wind of this and got pissed. Come on hammer/guy -- you got 1 music video! Make it happen!

Exxon fined for violating Russia sanctions
http://www.reuters.com/article/us-exxon-mobil-usa-ukraine-idUSKBN1A51UH

The Department of the Treasury just fined Exxon $2 million (that's right, million with an "M") for violating sanctions related to Russia's involvement in Ukraine. Why should Russia care about lifting sanctions if toothless enforcement is the alternative?

[STRATEGY] Ancient Med Variant
Hello everyone. I love the idea of the 5 player variant. But searching online I am unable to find strategy guides for EACH individual nation. It also seems Carthage has a good advantage over the others. Also Rome is just as bad as Italy in classic. Anyone have input?

If you go back only a relative few generations then the number of people you are decended from is greater than the number of people who have ever existed ( ignoring the Creation vs Evolution Debate)..

Creation c evolution isn't a debate. It is facts v myth. Those are just two totally different domains.
Deeply_Dippy (439 D)
19 Jul 17 UTC
Technically, Ogion, it's theory vs faith but I take your point.
Ogion (3982 D)

Technically, no, it's fact v. myth. Evolution is an observed fact. And you may have faith in your particular myth, but that doesn't change the fact that they creation story is a myth.

@Ogion. I would love to debate the Evolution thingy Im not a creationsit but do have severe doubts about scientific methodology.

Scientific Methodolgy is a brilliant tool to tell us HOW things happen from the possible thoeritical birth of the universe to how particles interact through to the movemnt of galaxies.

BUT the method unfortunalely by its very nature cannt and never will eb able to describle the fundamental WHY.

I believe we mankind will one day develope a methodology to help understand this just as the scientific method has unlocked the HOW..but we aint there yet..

Matbe its because our own current genetic diversity is limited ..

Or maybe its because Creation is TRUE. Ever consider that?
JamesYanik (548 D)
20 Jul 17 UTC
the old question "why" still hasn't ever been answered when repeated enough times, but i think that we need to look beyond ancient texts for any literal meaning. analyzing them for archetypes of human endeavor and symbolism... well religion is full of things that are worth studying, but taken literally... this time has passed.
Ogion (3982 D)
20 Jul 17 UTC
Well, yes, the scientific method is a brilliant tool for how based on evidence. That's what it is supposed to do. That's why there is no creation evolution debate because it turns out making up stories is actually a pretty terrible way of figuring out how.

Actually, I have considered whether the Christian myth is true. Turns out there is no more evidence for it that's the Brahma story or the Popul Vuj or any other myth, which is to say zero.
Ogion (3982 D)
20 Jul 17 UTC
And actually understanding the how can give you a pretty good notion of why, but that's another story.

Well we are all direct matrilineal descendants of Mitochondrial Eve, and males can trace their Y chromosome lineage to Y-chromosomal Adam, though they probably never met each other. Also, the dinosaurs died for our sins.
JamesYanik (548 D)
20 Jul 17 UTC
Funnily enough... scientology and the idea of neurological thetans and aliens is more likely than christianity. we haven't fully classified the brain, and we haven't fully classified the universe

however if we're talking about the overall value whether it be historical or philosophical, christianity leaps miles ahead.

Mitochondrial organisms are very intersting ..they heat up to about 50 degrees c. They are thought to be the reason we are warm blooded . the old mitos hate oxygen..

Do Republicans think that Russia is good or bad?
There seems to be debate on the right about whether Russia is to be trusted or not. (The left is uniformly suspicious of Russia). I'm seeing Republican lawmakers being skeptical about Russia, but rightwing media seems fine with them.
