"Trump pulls out" thread innuendo masked as title
The thread regarding trump leaving the Paris accords. Could be viewed very much as a slighted innuendo of Trumps past. He has been accused of some sketchy things. Discuss.

Rap and Hip Hop promote better capitalist values than Country or Rock
Rims, Gold Chains, Fancy Cars, Implants, Gold Teeth, Swimming Pools, Palm Trees, Mansions, "Ive made it culture", "Look at me". Are values pure to American capitalism and more purely espouse what America is.

Theory about ending homelessness/panhandling
Would homelessness end entirely if people stopped giving homeless money? The Mayor of Omaha, Nebraska has advised citizens to stop giving panhandlers money as they are on the rise. Here they wait by the interstate exit off ramps with signs.is ignoring them a moral decision?

Should Jared Kushner security clearance be suspended?
http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/335243-dnc-suspend-kushner-security-clearance-amid-fbi-scrutiny

The DNC, for political purposes obviously, wants to suspend Jared Kushner's security clearance. What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? I'm sure there's a perfectly good reason by Jared secretly met with the CEO from VEB, the Russian state-owned bank.

WSJ article about collusion between GOP and Russians
https://www.wsj.com/articles/how-alleged-russian-hacker-teamed-up-with-florida-gop-operative-1495724787

Yeah, I know that the WSJ is not conservative enough for some of y'all, but it is intriguing nonetheless. You know, the way journalists connect dots and shit.
JamesYanik (548 D)
26 May 17 UTC
the only reason why people hate the WSJ is because you can make HILARIOUS (sarcasm) jokes about SJW=WSJ and also they attacked PewDiePie

they're better journalists than most
JamesYanik (548 D)
26 May 17 UTC
but anyways, i can't read the article without a subscription. time to go hunting or a way around it
JamesYanik (548 D)
26 May 17 UTC
i found a way. so... it kind of seems like none of the Republicans are denying it, but openly admitting it. i mean there's no tangible connection to Russia, but this is at least accessory to a crime, right? even accessory after the fact, because he didn't immediately report the hacking, but they USED the information.

plus, Florida was a massive swing state. i mean not as massive as it turned about, but this is micro-watergate, right? i mean it's trying to get the other side's secrets so that they can have a political advantage in the next election.

maybe it's not the most sensitive material as Republicans surely have the same kind of polling data, but the breach of privacy is abhorrent, and the guy even contact Guccifer to try to get more hacks. this wasn't a joking-stupid comment Trump makes on twitter, this was a direct attempt (a successful attempt) to elicit the services of a hacker to break in, illegals to another political party's servers.

i mean shit
JamesYanik (548 D)
26 May 17 UTC
illegally*

i mean god damn it people, this florida guy surely has to go to jail? or are politicians immune to criminal charges, and he'll just pull a Hillary?
Hauta (1646 D (S))

Thanks for looking into this James. Now we need to bury this thread or @eturnage, @ND, and @leon's heads will explode.
Ogion (4179 D)

That is stunning because it suggests that Russian penetration goes way further than Trump and his campaign and includes the GOP. No wonder they're moving so slowly on the investigation. No doubt Chaffetz and those guys are worried they'll be outed as foreign operatives too. It is the whole party maybe that is corrupt and treasonous
Hauta (1646 D (S))
26 May 17 UTC
I think it's fine if Russia gives hacked information to one party because it let's us know their capabilities. Elections are always dirty. The real question is what the GOP promised in return. That's the treason.
Ogion (4179 D)
26 May 17 UTC
Indeed. However, there is one of two possibilities: either the GOP is more deeply compromised than realized or the GOP platform is so closely aligned with that of a war crime committing distatorship that it is worth it for Russia to try so hard to tip the scales. Either way, it's not a good look for the GOP
Hauta (1646 D (S))
26 May 17 UTC
I believe it's the former ofc, because nothing else explains the Russia connection shared by nearly every member of the administration. Just wondering what keeps Pence quiet. How is he getting a cut? His net worth is only a few million--nothing compared to the money flowing around him.
Randomizer (100 D)

DNC could go after the Florida Republican groups for receipt of stolen property because the information cost money to produce and had economic value unlike emails.
Hauta (1646 D (S))
26 May 17 UTC
what's the economic value? Moreover, you can't prove that the information changed any votes. Also, the DNC still had access to the info. Presumably, the hackers didn't destroy all of the DNC's copies. I see a lot of problems with such a lawsuit/prosecution.

Instead, I think the Russian information contribution counts as a violation of federal elections law:

"The Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA) prohibits any foreign national from contributing, donating or spending funds in connection with any federal, state, or local election in the United States, either directly or indirectly."
Randomizer (100 D)
26 May 17 UTC
Economic value results from the cost of reproducing that kind of database whether or not it changed votes. It has value because even if it was originally public information of registered voters, it now is in the form where the information is usable for getting likely voters.

The argument about the original owner still having the info is false because they have the right to determine where it goes as they own it. Copied information is still considered stolen and anyone involved in the transmission of stolen property is still considered criminal even if they don't profit or use it.
Hauta (1646 D (S))
26 May 17 UTC
I see your point now, "receipt of stolen property". Any way to turn it into a RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations) thing to get the whole party?
JamesYanik (548 D)
26 May 17 UTC
looking back at this, it's a connection between the GOP and Guccifer 2.0, and saying that Guccifer 2.0 is a clear cut Russian agent is quite a leap
Hauta (1646 D (S))
26 May 17 UTC
Google "Fancy Bear" and "Apt 28" and see what you get.
slypups (1889 D)
26 May 17 UTC
I think the quid quo pro was the election result itself. The GOP got the presidency and the Russians got a president whose positions they preferred. There is no need for any special favors or deals beyond that. The president/GOP just needs to do what they would normally do without any Russian influence - the Russians like a good bit of that, and like it a lot more than what they would have gotten from a Democrat president.
Hauta (1646 D (S))
27 May 17 UTC
That is a generous and benign interpretation. I fear the mystery "buyer" of the 20B stake in Rosneft could be Trump. We may never know if Trump pulls out of NATO whether it was his policy or Putin's. But in terms of messing up the country, I think he's giving Putin $20B of value.

Tax returns, please.
Hauta (1646 D (S))
27 May 17 UTC
There's something untoward in the tax returns, but this won't be there. I think it will be undeclared and owned through a series of trusts and cutouts that can transfer ownership faster than anyone can track it down.
slypups (1889 D)
27 May 17 UTC
True, if there is something nefarious, it will be moving too fast for any government agency to catch more than ghosts of it that cannot prove anything.
Randomizer (100 D)

Presidents and Vice Presidents get automatic annual audits while in office so Trump has his excused not to release them until after he leaves. But he did boast about making money in Russia.
slypups (1889 D)
27 May 17 UTC
Why is an audit any excuse? There is nothing about being audited that says you have to keep your taxes private. The American public has fallen for that false excuse hook-line-and-sinker. Total sham.
slypups (1889 D)
27 May 17 UTC
#fakeExcuse
JamesYanik (548 D)
27 May 17 UTC
@slypups

no but it's problematic if you're running a business. Trump is still in the wrong, he should have put everything into a blind trust, and then i'd be fine with only personal tax returns and no business tax returns

however, i'd like to point out:

"There is nothing about being audited that says you have to keep your taxes private."

well... There is nothing about running for Presidency that says you have to release your taxes. it's just tradition, and it makes sense for transparency's sake, but let's not pretend like this is some massive injustice
