Is Trump secretly movong left of center?
Just noting that between the promise to send a manned mission to mars which will cost a fortune, and the recent hint that the US may stay tye course with Paris Climate accords; is Trump actually going left?

Should Jared Kushner security clearance be suspended?
http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/335243-dnc-suspend-kushner-security-clearance-amid-fbi-scrutiny

The DNC, for political purposes obviously, wants to suspend Jared Kushner's security clearance. What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? I'm sure there's a perfectly good reason by Jared secretly met with the CEO from VEB, the Russian state-owned bank.

First advertiser pulls ads from Sean Hannity show
http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/tv/cars-leaves-sean-hannity-dust-pulls-advertising-article-1.3193120

Cars.com just pulled their ads from Hannity over the Seth Rich fake news propagated by Hannity even after Fox retracted the story. Corporate censorship of the press? Nope.

US intelligence leaks compromise UK terrorism investigation.

ND uncritically takes conspiracy theory information about a murder from Faux News, yet REJECTS THE CLAIMS OF 17 FEDERAL AGENCIES AND DEMANDS CLASSIFIED EVIDENCE with respect to Russia's meddling in the 2016 election.

Zero credibility regardless of educational attainment.

Regarding the notion that Russia is somehow an ally of the West...

The Russian nation, including most of its intellectuals, has long had a messianic complex. They believe it is their mission to "save" the decadent and corrupt West. They forgot the origins of that belief (Moscow as the third Rome), but the feeling is still strong. For that reason, they are extremely dangerous.

ND: "It was a story I saw on fox"

Isn't this prof enough of extreme narrowmindness? We are dealing with a person making references to "fox" as his only source of information.

The scary thought that catches my mind is that maybe this guy represents half the voters in the last american presidential election. If we cannot trust you more than we can trust this guy, we may all be doomed...

@brainbomb

"I was not aware we forced Russia to attack Ukraine."

I wouldn't know about Democrats, but the US indirectly helped Russia by first completely destabilizing Ukraine. Being a clever fox, Putin jumped at the opportunity. Nobody is saying Russia was justified in annexing Crimea, quite the opposite. On the other hand, it was a smart move... unlike Pearl Harbor.
brainbomb (295 D)

How were they destabilized by the US? I dont recall America ever placing econpmic sanctions on Ukraine, or imposing High Interest repayment plans like the world bank stuff did for years to countries in the Balkans, Greece, ect.

@Hauta: My ideology came from my own investigations and experiences with the world. Not everyone is raised as a lefty so why would I ‘break bad’? My immediate family is not involved with the church or military. 2) 20th Century Germany and to a lesser extent 19th Century Western Intellectual History.
@Jeff: You must have missed the part where I said the story about Rich was retracted and probably bullshit. I will await any finalized reports for the public.
@Peter: You must have missed the part where I said I saw the story and also did further digging. Many of my information sources have now rejected the story.

@hauta if they were willing to give back Crimea back to Ukraine and pull their troops from combat in Ukraine I would be 100% on your side. If we have learned nothing else from the past is if you keep letting a country get away with conquering other countries territory and allowing them to have it after its that we should never allow it.
Hauta (1618 D(S))
25 May 17 UTC
@hellion, sounds like you already are on my side. If they withdrew and played fair, they could integrate with west but Putin needs the conflict as a distraction so he could rip off his country.

"They believe it is their mission to "save" the decadent and corrupt West. "

I certainly hope it does. The corrupt and decadent West is too far gone to save itself. Russia is the last bastion of Christian conservatism and is absolutely a crucial ally to have. However, our left-wing elite and media demonizes Russia in order to prevent this.
leon1122 (190 D)
25 May 17 UTC
"If they withdrew and played fair, they could integrate with west"

The US has done far worse things than Russia has done with Ukraine. The US has actually forced regime change, whereas Russia is dealing with a government that overthrew the previous, democratically elected one in a violent coup.

Why is Terrorism the only time people feel a visceral response?
I noticed recently there was an incident where a man crashed his car into multiple people injuring many and killing someone. But because it was not terrorism, people did not seem motivated in the same manner against alcoholism as they would have if he were a terrorist. If he had indeed been from any Muslim country at all, and also under the influence of alcohol, one has to wonder if people would just automatically assume it was a terror plot.

American reporter arrested for asking questions to Trump HHS Secretary

On how PPSC scoring does not encourage players to throw games
In our recent discussion (threadID=1432961), many mods and fellow pillars of the community claimed that when you have two Great Powers in a game that have between 12 and 16 supply centers, one of these Great Powers has a (D) points-incentive to throw the game. I disagreed and this puzzled my fellow users, but only Lethologica took the bait when I explained my position. Here it is again:
