US intelligence leaks compromise UK terrorism investigation.
After the Manchester bombing, US intelligence has repeatedly leaked confidential information about the UK's investigation. Seems like US officers are taking after Trump.
Could you just fuck off instead please?

FtF Tournaments
Hello webdippers. Some of you know me already, but for those of you who don't, I'm an active FtF player, tournament-goer, and on the board of the North American Diplomacy Federation (NADF), which seeks to encourage FtF play, at both house games and tournaments, throughout North America.

US politics is now the best & worst "reality show" around today.
It's damaging the credibility and reputation of a once great nation

@Yanick I think that's pretty fair assessment. My thing is I don't know how many mainstream Democrats support the "far left" option. Pelosi, Scuhmer, Clintons, Obama, Perez don't support single payer, a blanket gun ban, carbon tax/subsidized solar, etc. The Bernie/Warren wing, which is growing, supports some of the "far left" economic stuff you mentioned.

In terms of foreign policy, there's not a dove in the Senate and just a handful in the house-- Barbara Lee, Tulsi Gabbard and some isolationist Republicans. When it comes to military intervention there is no left in this country's national politics.

@Yanick
Didn't see your other post. I was making a joke and this is pretty much the other argument we had so I don't want to rehash anything.

@ND
You addressed none of my arguments broadly. I will be interested to see how the Quist/Gianforte race comes out. If the DNC fucking airballs a third special election in a row I might consider registering green and giving up on them.
ND (884 D)

@James: While I condemn Gianforte for body-slamming a reporter it does reflect something. His win tonight means the Democrats can't win a statewide election when there is a supposedly 'unpopular' president and the Republican running against the Democrat is up for assault charges. If they can't win in that climate then they can't win period. That goes back to my other point about how the Democrats are so out of touch with people and so fringe. Voters would rather have a Republican up on assault charges be elected then a Democrat. It's sad.

@Sam: Gianforte has won. Nate Silver/Decision Desk HQ has called it.
ND (884 D)

The Democrats need to do some serious soul searching and stop being the party of fringe people.

@SamWest

Obama supported Single Payer on several occasions, he Settled with the ACA. but yeah, they supported a carbon tax openly... right?

@ND

opinions aside, that's a fair analysis... at least for Montana. given other recent state elections that have been quite close, it'll be interesting to see what the national map looks like come 2018
JamesYanik (548 D)

@SamWest

at least for the Montana election, is @ND really wrong? even with the assault charges, he still is winning

Fair enough, the GA election on June 20 will be a big one to watch.

Keep in mind ND that dude probably could have been found guilty in the Nuremberg trials and Montana would still vote him. Have you ever been to montana? Its nuts man
SamWest (100 D)

@ brainbomb
They elect Democrats to Congress all the time though! Jon Tester is a sitting Senator from Montana. They had two D Senators in Congress before 2010. This is the third race in a row the DNC has airballed since Trump was elected.

@Yanick
When he was younger he supported single payer. He once said "if he could make the US system from the ground up" he'd support single payer. But he had total control of the Senate and House and chose to pass the Heritage Foundation's healthcare plan. So he can say he "supports" it all he wants but in practical terms he didn't.

Still montana is unpredictably anti-establishment. They dont care about the media. That dude could have cannibalized the reporter and still won.

@SamWest

still, the ideology is consistent with the far left in that case. but nitpicking aside, i'm still waiting to see when the democrats start gravitating around a single person for a 2020 bid. i know it's early days... as early as they come, but i feel like they're either going to have to unify fast, or face a much bigger breakdown to come
TrPrado (456 D Mod)
26 May 17 UTC
From what I saw, there were a lot of early votes in this race. Can't sway those with an assault the night before (which was why Nate Silver saw a Gianforte win). Gianforte will now be a big headache for the Republican Party.

Socks picked up a solid amount of Gianforte's last day voters, I'm betting.

I hope they don't gravitate around a single person. They'd be stupid to do so. That's what they did last year and they lost to the fucking Hamburgler.

I want someone who understands economics in office. can that happen for once? even if it's more liberal economics... someone who's studied monetary and fiscal systems you know?

This is what colonial/state oppression looks like. As far as anarchist are concerned they are one and the same, the state oppresses its own people, the colonial empire oppress other peoples. In China they have this lovely grey area...

Why is Terrorism the only time people feel a visceral response?
I noticed recently there was an incident where a man crashed his car into multiple people injuring many and killing someone. But because it was not terrorism, people did not seem motivated in the same manner against alcoholism as they would have if he were a terrorist. If he had indeed been from any Muslim country at all, and also under the influence of alcohol, one has to wonder if people would just automatically assume it was a terror plot.

American reporter arrested for asking questions to Trump HHS Secretary
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/10/business/media/reporter-arrested-tom-price.html

Freedom of the press is an integral part of the 1st amendment. Just wondering how rightwing media handled or ignored this story about Dan Heyman, the reporter that was arrested for asking persistent questions to Tom Price, HHS Secretary.

On how PPSC scoring does not encourage players to throw games
In our recent discussion (threadID=1432961), many mods and fellow pillars of the community claimed that when you have two Great Powers in a game that have between 12 and 16 supply centers, one of these Great Powers has a (D) points-incentive to throw the game. I disagreed and this puzzled my fellow users, but only Lethologica took the bait when I explained my position. Here it is again:

Despite the fearmongering ive seen in Press games about Juggernauts over the past 5 years ive been here...I cant help but note its low rate of success and how its paranoia often benefits France or England most. Please share games where Juggernauts fail miserably. But also include ones which work out in a 2wd (if there even is such a situtation)

Is it Treason to sympathize with the Confederacy?
Shouldnt it be treason to sympathize with the Confederacy? We fought a war and defeated them. Hundreds of thousands died more than any war fought by America. For people who still wish the south had won- chant the south shall rise again or fly its flags isnt this treason?
