Would anyone be interested in this? To be clear, I mean instead of playing, we figure out a blow-by-blow of WWI and then re-enact it phase by phase.

HOW TO PLAY THIS
The instructions did not mention this scenario: If you attack a province that someone occupies, but that someone is moving their unit in that select province to a different province that is unoccupied, their move cancels and they have to defend their province which is being attacked right? I know this to be true based on my own experiences, but I wanted to confirm.

Group stage and up to present.
Shouldn't there be 56 games then? Or am I mathing wrong.

Interesting that there were 3 build Austria games, but no 3 build France games. I'm guessing those are Piedmont openings
And look at that Venice opening winrate!
Jeff Kuta (2087 D)
20 Jun 17 UTC
I didn't include games from those who placed 3rd or 4th in their group because there were a handful of "bad" games and NMRs. Weeding out weaker strategies or errors.
Ah. Makes sense then. Thanks for putting in the work. I think meme was trying to do something similar with his tourney at one point, but that may have gotten too large
I think what would be interesting to see is what groups of SC's are won with the most. When France wins, is it with Moscow or Tunis, etc

Nice job Jeff Kuta!! Thank you.

My courses of statistics are far far away... Too far away... But just from the basic data it seems that in the population reprensented by this sample (fairly experienced players) we could conclude that A doesn't lose significately more often than F.

* Is A winning more often ( A:15 vs F+D:13 ) ? -> should be inconclusive
* Is F winning more often ( F:8 vs A+D:20 ) ? -> no
* Is A doesn't lose more often ( A+D:20 vs F:8 ) ? -> should be yes.
* Is F doesn't lose more often ( F+D:13 vs A:15 ) ? -> should be inconclusive

I suspect that we shall see trends solidify as better players choose better strategies. I will be following this tourney to its end. I also track movement and builds through 1902. May be worth checking on key SCs at the end.

Draw with Austria in StP. I think this game was ended because both participants were assured of advancing.

Not a proper draw then. It messes up the statistics. :)
Jeff Kuta (2087 D)
21 Jun 17 UTC
True. Probably ought to eliminate this game from the analysis.
ghug (4077 D (B))

They drew because they both thought they would lose. That was the group's third or fourth game to finish.
Jeff Kuta (2087 D)
21 Jun 17 UTC
Whatever the reason, the game wasn't drawn due to a stalemate so for the purposes of my analysis, it should be dropped from consideration.
Zybodia (360 D)
21 Jun 17 UTC
Meme was sure of advancing. (He was 4-1 at the time.) Genghiz still had to finish the rest of his games.

I have my own personal reasons for wishing that game had been finished.

ADDITIONAL NOTES
No Austria wins were completed in 1904--players are wiser and more experienced now.
4 France players entered Norway in 1902--3 lost, 1 won.

France got crushed in the quarterfinals, a bit of a role-reversal from the round of 16.

It should surprise no one that Berlin and Munich are critical supply centers. They were both controlled by the winning great power in every game, and split when the game was drawn.

In every win, Austria also controlled Rome, Naples and Venice, while France controlled Norway, St. Petersburg, Tunis, and Kiel.

I correctly predicted 9 of the 11 outcomes after the end of 1902 builds, missing the draw and one prediction of France which ended for Austria.

Good luck to the semi-finalists!

Private game replacement rules
I've been told by a deadbeat admin that is losing a private game that he has the ability to pick any replacement he wants and he asked someone who I'd rather slit my wrists than play with. There's a reason I play passworded games and I think there should be a rule where you need the consent of people in your private game before picking a replacement.
