That sounds kind of cool. Winter is essentially when armies had to quit fighting anyway. Builds in winter make a lot of sense.

slmeone needs to organize this. I'd love to see how this changes nation strengths and opening moves. I think Germany would suddenly be very bad off since Russia and France. Could theoretically be within range of Berlin

Seems like a balance issue, yes. Also seems like something best done experimentally or face to face.

We don't have a way to do this on this site. You would have to look for some sort of sandbox host. Maybe this is something that could be designed on vDip. If you find a way to do it, I'd be interested in trying.

Is there a variant of this on vdip? I have no idea how complicated the programming would be to add extra phases.

I do have a board. My thoughts were to use my board for myself. And to use a jpeg of the webdip board but using google paint to edit each season for the players. Once sign ups are done, give me a week to get it all situated, and then I'll PM those interested. Sign up past 7 Players. I'll select based on proven reliability and experience I'd like this run to be high quality. As I'd like to actually see the game played out.

I my thoughts on phases:
Spring 01- 60 hours (giving 12 additional hours since opening moves will be drastically affected and I want everyone to try to plan out and consider all the new possibilities.)

Subsequent phases 48 hours. There will be at most 24 hours hours between one phase ending and another beginning for me to adjudicate.

On that note I'd like if someone semi experienced could volunteer to be my second eyes so if I come across a situation in which I do not honestly know how to adjudicate a set of moves I have a second affirmation. This will be a loooooooong game. A) we've extended each year by an additional season. B) we need time for me to adjudicate between phases. I want all participants to be aware of the longevity and potential this game could have.

We will pause the game from DEC 20th - JAN 2nd

Also if those involved don't mind I'll be messaging Kaner on vdip as his podcast may be interested in keeping tabs on the game and I'd include him in the mailing list for season adjudication.

We're playing it through email. I believe CB has a board and will be taking pictures of it. That being said, is this like FTF where If I have a spelling mistake it missorders? because I am a bad speller...

reedeer I recommend looking up the diplomacy official rulebook and using the official abbreviations. The reason it would end up misordering is I technically end up in a situation where I either have to guess what you meant or ask you after the phase end thus meaning you have X extra hours to make your moves if you are devious enough. :) but I am a benevolent GM and will do my best to make this fun and fair.
