Feature discussion: newbie diplomacy
So, one feature that would be amazing for new players is a "test the waters" mode for diplomacy.

Something that new players could try to see if they like Diplomacy, without the commitment to a four month game checking the site every day, or setting aside five hours for a live game. Maybe it's a short game up until 1902? I have no idea. Ideas?

How do people communicate in Gunboat?
I'm playing in a couple gunboat games, and it seems like other players are working well together, with regards to support and such. I trust they are not messaging each other, and so I would like to know how they figure out what the other players are going to do.

US bombs Syrian army positions surrounded by ISIS
in Deir Ezzor. 60 soldiers dead, tens injured. They've been surrounded for 2-3 years, and the US is contributing. Swell.

Of course they are coming to Australia for economic reasons. It would be inane to think that was not the case. However, I firmly believe that it's a case of win-win. Whether that is politically and culturally acceptable is a question that has to be answered by each nation.

As for lobbying governments, I live in Australia, and I don't think our policy is bad enough that I need to get all worked up over it.

OK I'm wondering where the difference in our views is. I support the way we are currently working, strong border protection with a generous humanitarian refugee resettlement program plus immigration program.
The offshore detention camps are less than ideal, but they are an effective response to people smugglers and a practical response in a far from perfect world.
With 60 odd million refugees and displaced persons globally, the international community of Nations needs to do more, but we are hampered by those leaders who are selfish, uncooperative and often create the problem.
Eg Putin, Syria's dictatorship, Iran's leadership, Mugabe and a stack of African thugs

And yes, Ireland disgraceful treatment of asylum seekers is something i campaign against. The direct provision program is horrible and prevent integration and the promotion of human rights.

But you're still whinging about refugees. Guess what, Australia is entirely populated by people who left europe for economic and social reasons (being transported from ireland was a social issue, ie the society didn't want them so they were transporte to aus) What makes these refugees desire to move to aus any less legitimate than your entitlement to be there? Or the aboriginal's entitlement based on their less recent migration?

Migration is the norm, national state boundaries are the more recent invention.

I'm not whining about refugees you cork brained clown.. I simply support an organised way of bringing them here, and strong measures against those who try to cheat the system
MajorMitchell (1605 D)

We get to choose who comes here and the circumstances in which they come, we won't be dictated to by corrupt criminals who engage in people smuggling

I apologise for the cork brained clown remark..but I am not critical of our emigration and refugee resettlement programs, I support them.
How about you nominate the three or five best and worst performing nations as regards the refugee crisis ( in your opinion )
MajorMitchell (1605 D)

Our policies are not perfect, so when I say I do not criticise them that's a generalisation

Actually the state I live in was not a penal colony ..it was founded by social Utopians and Germans fleeing religious persecution, but the treatment of the indigineous people was unfair and cruel in most cases

Creating an app for webDip.
Because of my schedule, I have gotten into the habit of using my phone for webDiplomacy, but the web format isn't the best for a small screen on a phone.
This thread is more about a discussion on how the app should look, support, etc.
