Declining a Build
Is it possible to decline a build? It should be legal, but I don't see a way to do it in the interface.

From the fourth edition of the rules: "A country can decline to build a unit that it is entitled to for any reason."

Shared rights for a pc-game
Hey guys,
I'm creating a pc-game with a small group of people and we're wondering whether the rights can be shared.
We wonder whether all creators can be owners for a percentage of the product rather than just having one nominal owner who hands out the money to the other creators without having to create a joint company for just the one product. Does anyone know if that is possible, how and where the limitations are?

Newbie here
Hi! I'm new to the game and the site. What are points? Chess has a rating system, but I'm curious to how the Points system works out in Diplomacy.

Since I'm new and am likely to get backstabbed pretty frequently in the first few games, how fast can I hit zero and what happens if I exceed my expectations and actually get there? :-)

I did not say you were naive. I said to believe that her server was not hacked by foreign government(s) is naive. If you think it was not, I would call that naive. Actually, I hope you are right because it looks to me as if Trump will blow this thing and I would hope that a foreign government isn't in possession of the missing emails of a president.

You & I apparently hear things a little differently. I heard Trump make two points with the statement. First that Hillary's private server was more than just carelessness & second a tweek of the press for not covering the issue.

Really, I should not have joined this conversation, because I see the uproar about whether Trump is a traitor or not to be a red herring. Seems to me this whole discussion is more about distracting from the fact that Clinton intentionally put her private affairs above the security of the United States. If it makes you feel better to blame Trump for bringing the matter up there is not much I could say that would tear you away from the fantasy that Clinton hasn't jeopardized national security and lied to us for a year or so to cover that up.

Really Randomizer, what a 19 year old model did to make a living before she married Trump is an issue for you?

"Kiss his feet and slobber all over his tiny hands, leon. He's all yours. The rest of us don't want him."

I'm not gay like... someone.

"Whut? In what universe did Trump not gain anything from this? He even showed off 'his' products during speeches.

You don't think he might make a cent extra from that? You don't think he might like the huge boost to publicity?"

Have you not heard of all the business he has lost for stating his politically incorrect opinions? He was kicked from hosting The Apprentice, his clothing was pulled from Macy's, and he lost business deals in Arabia. I think those hurt him much more than a few book sales can boost him.

"He's a narcissistic sociopath who has a long history of only thinking for himself. Sorry, saying he cares about people other than himself is a steaming pile of bullshit."

Wow, you totally convinced me with your complete lack of examples.

"Second, that political content turning up in the missing email would make Hillary look bad doesn't make Trump's comment any less asinine, it just makes him look bad alongside Hillary."

Would you also say that Edward Snowden just made himself look bad alongside the NSA for exposing the NSA's illegal practices?

"Trump's wife may have worked illegally in the US on a tourist visa. A request to see her immigration records has been made to reconcile her statements with the different visa type requirements. If she worked on a tourist visa, then Trump has another case of do as I say, not as my family does."

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/former-modeling-agent-reveals-details-about-melania-trumps-visa/

"Zampolli said he was not aware whether Mrs. Trump ever held a different visa. He said it was possible she came to the U.S. on a visitor visa to check out the modeling agency, a practice he said was common when foreign models were considering making the jump to New York.

"They come to meet the client to see if they really should come to New York," he said, noting that the process often includes taking photos to build a portfolio to attract bigger-name modeling contracts.""

http://www.cnn.com/2016/08/05/politics/melania-trump-immigration-visa/

"But it still may not have been illegal because, according to the photographer, Melania likely wasn't paid for the shoot. Photographer Jarl Ale de Basseville said he and the models did the free work to get exposure in the well-known French magazine.
"You were making this kind of magazine to have exposure, and this exposure was bringing you to the next level to have a catalogue," de Basseville told CNN. "No one was paying. No one was getting paid.""

"Already Clinton has been criticizing Trump companies for buying from China and other Asian countries instead of US factories including for his campaign hats. Make America Great applies only to making the rich richer."

With the current conditions, a manufacturer HAS to produce outside the US. President Trump will change that. He will reduce corporate tax so that businesses can thrive in America again as they once did.

"You & I apparently hear things a little differently. I heard Trump make two points with the statement. First that Hillary's private server was more than just carelessness & second a tweek of the press for not covering the issue."

I'll just quote him again:
“Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing. I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press.”

There isn't any tweak of the press for not covering the issue--which would be silly, since the press has extensively covered the issue. There isn't any point about whether the private server was more than just carelessness--please cite which part of the statement supposedly makes that point.

"Really, I should not have joined this conversation, because I see the uproar about whether Trump is a traitor or not to be a red herring."

Which is one reason why I stay away from discussing whether Trump is a traitor.

"...there is not much I could say that would tear you away from the fantasy that Clinton hasn't jeopardized national security and lied to us for a year or so to cover that up."

I've repeatedly said that my dislike of this statement has nothing to do with my opinion of Clinton, but if you want my stipulation that her email usage has been stupid and careless and likely bad for national security, you can have it.

There's no lack of examples of this. It was public knowledge LONG before he ran for president, but I guess you're too young for that.

@leon:
"He will reduce corporate tax so that businesses can thrive in America again as they once did."

Corporate tax rates are not high by historical standards. In fact, both the statutory and effective corporate tax rate are historically low in the post-WWII era. So if "as they once did" references any time since then, maybe you're pulling the corporate tax rate in the wrong direction. Or maybe you're focusing on the wrong fiscal lever.

You can't compare by historical rates. Historically, China, Mexico, and other countries didn't have the industrial base they have now. In the past, the US could raise corporate tax as high as it wanted, and companies wouldn't have the option to move internationally as they have today.

@Jimmy48 regarding "Really Randomizer, what a 19 year old model did to make a living before she married Trump is an issue for you?"

I've met people that have worked illegally in the US on student visas. There's a double standard where it's okay to do it if you are white or Asian, but not if you are Hispanic. The government rarely goes after people from Europe working here illegally.

The thing is that Trump and associates have been breaking the laws and condemning others for doing it. Trump executives were down in Cuba years ago breaking the embargo on doing business with Cuba. His daughter's company produced clothing using unsafe materials and made in Asia. Trump himself made business deals with New York mobsters and called it a common business practice.

With such questionable ethics, Trump doesn't have any grounds to say he's better than Clinton.
