Hot to find a player who played a particular game.
Hi,
I played a anonymous game. In that game one player resigned and he was replaced by another one.
In the game page I can only find the new of the replacing player.
How can I know who was substituted in that game?

Congrats everyone
Some of you may recognise my username - I haven't played here for a fair while now but I used to be a regular member here. One of the reasons I left was because of how toxic this forum used to be, and I'm really pleased that it's got better, to the point where I might even play another game or two on here soon. Really though, this is just a big props to the mod team.

How balanced is classic diplomacy?
Do you guys think the map of the classic diplomacy is the perfect balance? Are their any locations that are to powerful and should be needed in your opinion? Obviously there are strategic spots that give you an advantage.

I don't understand that variant. I can't find any relation to the classic board. Am I missing something?

They changed the colours (and the shapes), but the connections are all still the same: Pink is Italy, green Austria, etc.

The island with three supply centres is England, the peninsula is itsly, but it is stuck to the edge of the board instead of the middle, because switzerland is the board edge, and the board edge (which is also impassable) is where switzerland was.

The only unbalanced element of the classical map is the difficulty in placing Italy as part of the western triangle or the southern triangle. Interesting ideas revolve around transforming Sardinia into a Supply Centre, giving the Italian far more options. Fleet Rome doesn't do enough to solve this.

Hang on... You click on the map and you get a message from Figle! That alone makes it the best variant ever :).

Legend has it that one day, in the hour of webDip's greatest need, he will indeed find the time...

If it were balanced, one probably needn't be concerned about randomizing country selection.

i remember seeing somewhere in the web a statistic with diplomatic games played with a fleet in ROM. i dont remember every detail, but austria's score got a boost, while turkey was suffering. italy's success was unchanged.
Every country has it's own nature. You just need to embrace it and dominate the map. (Inspirational tatoo)
orathaic (1009 D(B))

not having and army in rome means italy can't attack austria. It weakens italy mroe than it helps.

There is a huge arguement that fleet rome is a bad variant for italy.

Why can't England have three fleets at the start ? With a canal through yorkshire to the north sea ...That'd liven up the game for France...Plus all my sc's should be double bonus, so I can have two units for each sc...,
Putin33 (111 D)

To be historically accurate French and German armies should be paralyzed after the first year. Russia should fall into civil disorder after 3. Austria should be completely immune from Italian attacks for 4 years. Turkey should have to wait 1 year before taking its first turn.

Making a game where russia (or any country) can be split in two and have to figth the revolution, would be great.

You'd need to have multiple players in each country. (Imagine the 34 player chaos variant, but where the 34 players continue playing after their 'nation' is eliminated, with different roles which they can be assigned to - like president/diplomat/general - and elections, public conversations by the citizens, and potentially revolution... - nevermind spying, and defectors/double agents)

Deleting an account
Is there a way to delete an account? I forgot my original username/password combo and created a new one, but was able to get logged back in under the old. The usernames are really similar so I don't want people to think that I am doubling up (I haven't put any in the same games). Just wondered since I would like the stats to all go to this account, and most likely won't use the other one at all.

Netherlands Diplomacy Association organised some demonstration games.
Quite a few new players, including the two youngest I've ever seen at a board, 12 and 13. We also did a live (!) broadcast. Photos and video can be seen at our FB group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/996646063678823/
