Meta Gaming
I got a message from a mod accusing me of meta gaming (even though I have never done so), with a warning that I would be punished if I do not respond in three days. I responded almost immediately, but two days later, still have not yet heard back from the mod. Am I at risk of having my account banned while I wait for the mod to respond? I am at a critical juncture in multiple games right now, so that would be really bad. Thanks to anyone who responds.

Confused about defaulting to defend
I'm new to this, and am curious-- under what circumstances does a unit that is programmed to move, support hold, or support move NOT do what it's programmed to do, but rather revert to defending itself?

Help please?

Over-representation on the forum
It seems clear that people called "oscarjd74" are seriously over-represented on this forum. There are around 100% too many of them.

What can we do to address this serious imbalance?

Respect the elderly
I believe that the elderly are severly underrepresented on webDip. Obviously this is because the webDip community is too hostile towards the elderly. How can we solve this problem?

@Code Bomb

Please don't call the elderly stupid. It's exactly that kind of hatred and age discrimination that is scaring them away from participating in our community.
JamesYanik (548 D)

@oscar i understand your concern but all in all the fact that i havent heard their opinions is a good thing because the majority of opinions here are crap. in my mind the older generation is smarter than many of us wipper-snappers cause they dont say shit.
oscarjd74 (100 D)

@VB

Are you really that ignorant? Whoever self-identifies as elderly should be considered elderly.
Code Bomb (100 D)

@oscar - are you an elder? I highly doubt it. Trolls have to live a very long time before they reach elderly status.

You're just a baby troll. When you actually get your own bridge to troll under instead of sharing an elderly troll's troll bridge, I might actually take part in one of the trolling threads you make. Troll

@JamesYanik

Thank you for your concern. Although I think you shouldn't just assume that all older people are smart. With such high expectations it is no wonder that less gifted old people shy away from webDip.

@Code bomb

It seems to me that you are the real troll here. You are also derailing this thread about helping the elderly so it's quit obvious that you don't give a shit about them and would just as well euthanize them all. Well, on behalf of all the elderly: go fuck yourself.
Code Bomb (100 D)

@baby troll - You have no right to speak on behalf of the elderly, unless you are indeed, elderly.

I think we should reach out to the younger generation instead. Ask them how they feel. And then tell them to swallow half a cup of concrete and harden the fuck up.

I agree with rd. That and I think we should host "pudding night and shuffleboard". All in favor?
oscarjd74 (100 D)

The fact that most people here immediately assume that this thread is a joke without even considering to take the plight of the elderly seriously is illustrative of how hostile webDip is towards elders. Saying that the elderly just eat pudding and play shuffleboard... That's just outright hateful and discriminatory. Check your youth privilege dude.

If you're 30+ you're probably an elder, at least on this site.

An elderly person I know once tried to sign up, but told me the site was hostile to th elderly. He said that old people with bad eyesight and hand-eye coordination were discriminated against by how close together the save and ready buttons were.

Check your young privilege.
oscarjd74 (100 D)

Ageism is so pervasive in our society that it is difficult to recognize it for what it is. As youngsters, our default position thanks to society is probably ageist in some sense.
That's a compelling argument, Shadow. Thanks.

I'd say anyone 65 and up. This thread is pretty entertaining to watch, by the way. Oscar trying to get legitimate opinions and action taken, and CB shooting him down all the time. In my 3 years or so of being on here, I've never actually (knowingly) come into contact with an elderly person. So if they are in fact here, they should come out.
jmo1121109 (3812 D)

Why should they come out? No person on this site should feel the need to give out any information about themselves.

One of the few times I agree with JMO
YanksFan47 (150 D)

Well if there is such a problem with ageism, I'm saying they should come out and say that they think there is a problem. If no one steps up from the actual elderly users of this site and report a problem, then this thread is a waste of time. It reminds me of the Washington Redskins' name debate. It's the white majority saying that the Native Americans are offended (or in this case, the young to middle-aged adults), when in reality, many studies show they aren't, and that some are even proud of it. I think that if the elderly see a problem, then they report it, and if not, then we carry on.

What's an Enemy?
I found that enemies are most enemies that aren't interested in the interests of other friends' enemies and most people are not people that I would make as an enemy because it takes a friend to make an Enemy with interests like those of your enemy. I always hang out with enemies but never with my enemies because our interests are the same.

So what's this thread anyway?
