What the hell is wrong with me? I read this thread...and....and...I actually understood why some might find it offensive? Good lord....<pulling my hair>....I think....I think...I might be growing...sss...ss......sensitive!!
Oh....wait....then I realized that anyone that takes offense at this is a blithering idiot. If you are fat, you know you are fat, and you know that you eat more food than others. Chances are, therefore, that your fatness is a choice of behavior...the "I have a thyroid problem..." is, generally speaking, a bunch of shit that people use as an excuse.
I've been overweight in the past...I didn't like it. I changed my diet and exercised. Problem solved. Yes....it was hard. Never said it was easy. I have also beaten down alcoholism, which I assure you is significantly more difficult than than not buying potato chips and ice cream.
It's time, as a society, that we stop being such a bunch of whiny pussies and pretending that bad choices are acceptable. Yes...I said it....choosing to live a lifestyle that makes you fat is a **bad** choice. It has health consequences. It increases your burden on society through the cost of your health care, and therefore is a selfish choice. It increases your carbon footprint (the food has to be grown and transported...) and therefore is unhealthy for the planet, if you believe in such things.
Fuck. Get the hell over it. Fat people are fat. It isn't "funny" per se....but pointing it out shouldn't be "offensive" either.
