As grown ups we all have our own 'red lines' that we try not to cross.
Regardless of anything jmo has ever said or done on the forum and whether we agree or disagree there is still a level of integrity and respect that individuals owe not just to Mods but to all other forum members, that is where the real moderation comes in, showing some respect for other forumites.
I'm a football coach and in the UK we have something called the RESPECT campaign. Nothing typifies what that stands for in a better and more succinct way than the following video, I know I've posted it on here before but please take just two minutes to watch it because while some of you are busy shouting the odds everybody else has to suffer your shit, it shouldn't be the ref who has to deal with your shit you need to take a long hard look at yourself .... here is both Krellin and jmo in action .... enjoy.

@mapleleaf, run with the assumption that everyone who +1'ed here would -1 the other thread and vise versa. Then you have an accurate count.

I'm going to run on the assumption that there was an overbearing mod abusing his power recently, and despite the please of many for him to scale back his abuse of power, it finally took what some consider to be offensive action to draw enough attention to the situation and have it corrected.

It's hard to +1 ugly things, and yet sometimes they are necessary to accomplish a goal that benefits all.

I don't have a problem with jmo. I think he is trying hard to his job to the best of his ability, and for that he should be commended. But ultimately I think the task of moderating the forum, beyond "don't make cheating accusations" and "don't talk about on going games" is futile. It doesn't make the forum a better place. If anything it provokes even more "trouble" and "trash talk".

In order to achieve their aims I think moderators would need the ability to delete individual posts. Then they really would have the power they seek. That said, I am glad they don't.

I have always like this place as a discussion forum. It's my personal favourite on the internet. I think there are lot of super-smart people here and really interesting discussions, but I think its golden age was when we had almost no forum moderation.
