#1 Post by Alcove » Thu Jan 31, 2019 8:51 pm

Hello WebDiplomacy!

Season II of the Nexus Diplomacy tournament is under way! Last Season featured a total of 92 players and 44 games, culminating in @Iosers German victory. This season we are planning to host more than 150 participants in more than 65 games, making us one of the largest online Diplomacy tournaments ever. We will be playing on WebDip, PlayDip, Diplicity, Conspiracy, and Backstabbr, and players from all platforms are welcome to join our host discord server here: https://discord.gg/qzZWgdk.

Official Tournament Game Specs:
• Classic Europe
• Game playable until 1910 (at which point it will be force drawn)
• 24hr move, 24hr build/retreat
• Random country selection
• Private/Anonymous game
• Hidden Draw Vote
• 5 point buy in
• SoS scoring format

Advancement:
• Games will end when one player has collected 18 SCs or Winter (aka Fall Retreats) 1910 arrives, whichever comes first
• Games will be scored using Sum-of-Squares scoring (pool 100 points)
• Players may play a maximum of 6 games to qualify for the final round
• The qualifying score will be the sum of a player's best 3 games throughout the course of their 3-6 game season
• The top 7 players in the standings by the end of Season II will advance to the finals game on May 8
• The winner from the final game will receive the grand prize of USD$50

Come represent WebDiplomacy! Signups will be rolling until April 1, so come check out our Discord, ask some questions, and hop into a game! Even if you're not planning to start a game now, come check us out and meet the community. Diplomacy has a great online multi-platform presence!

We look forward to seeing you,

Due to the size of this tournament and because we'd love to see people participate, anyone making the final board will receive 500 :points: as a prize. If you then finish in the top 3 you'll get an additional 1,000, 750, or 500 :points: for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respectively as well as a banner for your accomplishment. Please represent webdip well!

If by choose you mean suggest to me with the understanding I'll probably overrule it unless it's good...then sure!

Heyyyy, I'm in here too now! Hello!

Everybody who subscribed for a Nexus game, please check your discord. Game number 16 is forming.

Everybody who did not subscribe for a Nexus game: what are you waiting for?

I see a lot of people joining the server but few of them subscribed to games yet. Maybe it's good to know that you need to fill in your favourite platform (webdip) and username in there (in here) into the #tournament-matchmaking channel. It's an empty channel but we, mods, see what you did there.

We do.

We harvest the names and get you in games.

There is one waiting to start now. I might need a sub in there so if you feel ready for a game I can get you in one right now!

I fully recommend it, it’s a good tournament so far. They’ve managed to get a pretty diverse group of good talent from a number of sites (new faces are always good) and I like the continual commentary and tournament wide updates on the discord channel. Worth jumping into if you’re looking for a quality game.

It’s also nice to have the option to play here on your home site if you don’t feel like having to learn a new interface, although if you do want that fresh batch of faces in your games the host site options are pretty user friendly.

Appreciate the support VI, we've got 2 webDip games up and running now, and an ever-increasing number of players on the server. We've been heavily represented thus far by Backstabbr and Conspiracy players, and would love to see WebDip players stake their claims to online Diplomacy dominance. Come bring a friend, input your name into #tournament-matchmaking, and compete for the top board!

You can play on WebDip! Currently WebDip is tied with Backstabbr as the second biggest platform in the tournament
