I'm really intrigued by the idea of playing along with a bot. Like... this is the cutting edge of the robot revolution... when the bots finally lynch [insert username of your hated forum enemy here]. Seriously though, this is machine learning, and exactly the kind of thing I'd love to do if I knew how to code.
As for playing a GAME with the bot, I'm not sure it has the same effect on the game until the bot can post by itself. Until it does, we're all gonna think this is just another spreadsheet. "squiggs is manipulating the results," will be the reaction, and we'll read/lynch YOU, not test the alg. It'll still be fun to see the thing work, but won't quite be the same game.
"is squiggs manipulating the results?" is a totally different game than:
"do we policy vote with a bot?" ... "no, i say we policy you for trying to lynch the bot!" ... "NO U"
or:
"I guess I AM scum since the bot says so? hunh. ##vote self"
or:
"the bot just tried to lynch the gm. can it even do reaction tests?"
"I'm going to [do X behavior] because I think the bot thinks its towny"
"well I think it's scummy AF, so ... ##vote YOU"
"yeah I'm going to [do Y behavior] because I think the bot thinks it's scummy"
etc etc
That game sounds really fun. You might as well deploy it in the godthread at first to see how good it is, and then score players on whether or not their scumhunting gut/spreadsheet/method is better than machine learning. Use the time to sandbox bot-posting abilities.
imo, hold off putting it INTO play until:
a) ...it can be its own discrete entity in the game. One of the diplomacy bot accounts could do the posting (Cortana/Jane/Zultarbot etc). Solicit text submissions for quips that go with the bot's post (I'm sure we'll come up with some good ones). idk what's available for code, but I'm sure there's already a framework for posting to php forums.
b) ...it can auto-post a random one-liner and a ##vote to the thread every couple hours. maybe updated reads.
The ability to read text and post back to a forum thread allows for a couple DREAMING CATEGORY ideas:
a) a bot that could adjudicate a very vanilla game.
b) finally a way to buy oil paintings at a very reasonable discount.

Mafia universe already has a forum linked GM that does all the adjudication.
I think best bet would be to run a discord game using discords easy to implement bot functionality. That way it could get the necessary info and post from that account. Unfortunately I dont have oodles of time to develop something that involved right now.

##No lynch is for end of day if you cant make a decision. and is a way to place no meaningful vote, and is encouraged often.
#vote ghug is for if you wanna put in an invalid vote at EOD that ISNT illegal. Even if it causes others to think you did it on accident, or if you did it on purpose

in the least drama filled way possible, can someone explain why unvoting is more unethical than self voting, or deliberate invalid voting.
