Roseanne

#1 Post by brainbomb » Tue Jun 05, 2018 6:53 am

I didnt watch the reboot. It seemed really dumb and I just think shes not that funny anymore. Now her gross ass comments too. I feel like people arguing freedom of speech are kinda bullshit too. Yall didnt wanna give Colin Kaep free speech. Said any job has a right to fire you if they dont like your views.

See ya Roseanne. I was shocked she was hating on people for appearance, lady looks like shes had 50 facelifts herself.

Anyone with a role in the public eye has a duty to their employer not to make public comments that bring them into disrepute. It's unfortunate for the sake of diversity that a high profile right leaning Jewish woman has lost her position, but it was very much a self-inflicted wound.

As to whether or not her show was funny, trying to rank American comedy in order of hilarity is a bit like trying to rank rocks in terms of their buoyancy. Aside from the occasional Big Bang Theory pumice stone there's not a lot in it.

Funny peculiar or funny haha?

In more important comedy news, Nicholas Parsons missed an episode of Just A Minute

I don't have any sympathy for Barr's statements, but anyone can be thrust into the public eye, and employers can have different ideas about what constitutes disrepute.

The simple fact is that in the USA currently, anyone can be fired for expressing their political opinions. There should be stronger workers' protections in place.

A technicality, but ABC did not fire Roseanne Barr, because they were not her employer. If her production company can get another TV station interested in broadcasting the show, they are free to do so.

Have any of you actually seen a picture of the person she was calling an ape? Valerie Jarrett is a light-skinned Iranian. The comment clearly wasn't directed towards her race.

I dont think we were debating on if the comments were funny ir disgusting. Her employers clearly felt embarassed and fired her ass.

Hold on, you don't think the Big bang Theory is a good comedy show, right? I'm hoping I misunderstood your analogy.

y'all gotta get out more. There's plenty of good comedy on US TV. Comedy bang Bang, Its Always Sunny being two good examples. Though, I don't have the deepest knowledge of TV comedy, since I mostly watch youtube for comedy.
