NFL teams to be punished for kneeling

What a craven attack on FREE SPEECH. Patriotic nationalism is now compulsory in the NFL.

The NFL bends the knee to President Trump.

As a fan of both Trump and free speech, how do you feel about that Leon?

Technically they are removing the requirement that all players have to be on the field before the game too. This lets them sweep the protesting players out of sight and make it look like Loser Trump wants it.

Remember Loser Trump used to own that failed team, USFL New Jersey Generals. Another failed Trump business and he keeps claiming he knows how to run businesses when it's just how to generate fake news.

I would have preferred Jed York voted no, but abstaining is better than voting yes. I think that the NFL missed a good opportunity to educate its viewers. But that choice would have been quite surprising as the NFL has a robust history of sweeping stories that could negatively affect its public image under the rug.

The NFL is deeply wrong about this; it is an affront to free speech.

But the idea that the NFL can or should "educate" its viewers would never work. Nothing backfires like sanctimoniousness. I think the Norman Lear "message" sitcoms of the 1970s did as much to elect Ronald Reagan as anything else.

They simply shouldn't have instituted this rule.

It's especially disturbing when you consider how much work it is to get the NFL to do anything about protecting its players from debilitating brain injuries or domestic violence

Lol. You think the NFL players are the victims of domestic violence? More like the perpetrators.

I've made the precedence explicit with mathematical parentheses, to clarify the ambiguity for leon1122.

An Oxford comma might have done the trick... but when you want to be clear... you gotta get some math in there.

I can see why that would have been unclear, though I imagine most people should have no trouble determining what I meant given the context.

Ain't nothing Oxford about a comma there, though.

I disagree with the NFL's stance on the matter as it is unabashedly wrong and ignorant, but the NFL has absolutely no legal, moral, or other obligation to protect the freedom of speech and freedom of expression of its employees and associates on the field when they are working. If you think it's a bad thing that the NFL can infringe on the freedom of expression of its employees, complain about the NLRA instead of the NFL.
