Yay Trump! - MAPA (Make America Private Again)!

#1 Post by flash2015 » Wed May 27, 2020 6:26 pm

I don't know if anyone has been following the news outside of coronavirus...but an important part of the Patriot Act (section 215) is currently up for renewal. Section 215 is the part which allows warrantless surveillance...initially supposed to be used just for terrorism but which of course has been wildly abused.

Trump just tweeted out the following:

https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/sta ... wsrc%5Etfw

"I hope all Republican House Members vote NO on FISA until such time as our Country is able to determine how and why the greatest political, criminal, and subversive scandal in USA history took place!"

I don't agree with all the deep state conspiracy stuff...but if the controversy means we rein in the intelligence services I am all for it. Make America Private Again!

I would suggest that the hope that a narcissist, racist, mysoginistic egomaniac intimidating the intelligence services in a continual attempt to subjugate them into serving.his interests and not the people and Constitution of the USA is a useful way of reforming public oversight of intelligence services is a perhaps similar to a Pollyanna like hope that amidst the destruction an uncontrollable undomesticated bull wreaks in an Emporium of fine glassware a better relationship.between Emporium owner & their insurance company will emerge.

Reporting of Trump's press conferences here in Australia is interesting. It seems Trumptoad is suffering from being restricted to holding far fewer of his controlled public rallies to his supporters by CV19 shutdowns and is compensating with a blizzard of Twitter rants and his press conferences are increasingly opportunities where Trump~rants display his imho moments of oafish ignorance, such as his dissertation on the "absolute authority" of the office of POTUS where his appalling ignorance of the Constitutional distribution of Powers between judiciary, Congress and Senate and POTUS was an embarrassment & disgrace imho.

Plus his imho almost complete ignorance of the Constitutional relationship between Federal government and the States in the USA has also been revealed to any discerning viewer imho.

Trump believes he can do whatever he wants until the Supreme Court rules differently as seen by all the court cases being appealed for abuse of power and withholding information. Too numerous to provide links so look for yourselves using search engines.

Among the new powers that agencies wanted in the bill were the abilities to do warranted less searches of browser histories and more surveillance powers.
