PRINCIPLES

1. Games involved
Tower Game Series (TGS) is a competition based on 1v1 games:
* FvA
* GvI
* GvI-Tn [ GvI with Tyrol neutral in Spring '01 ]
Phase length : 24 hours

2. List of players
The list of players who participate is established here below. Anybody can register in adding his/her pseudo at the <u>bottom of the list</u>.
A player in the list can decide to challenge the player just above him in the list. If there are 11 or more players in the list, a challenge can be launched to any player up to 2 steps above ; 21+, up to 3 steps ; etc with a max of 5 steps).

3. Give a challenge
The challenger adds a post in this thread (see below) and informs the player (s)he is challenging. This latter has 7 days to answer.
He does so in creating the game he will play with the challenger and posting a link to this in this thread.

A challenge cannot be declined but players can put themselves on vacation for personal reasons (holidays, busy at work, ...) for period of maximum 1 month.
A player who is challenged or who has challenged another player is nevertheless immune to being challenged until the game is finished.

4. Results
If the challenger wins the game he takes the place of the other player in the ladder. If he loses or in case of draw, they both keep their position.
Two players who played together in the TGS can't challenge each other less than 1 week afther the end of their former challenge.
If after 7 days a challenged has not been answer, the challenger is considered to have won the challenge. (Fairplay remains the rules here anyway.)

Okay, so if I simply wait to be challenged, I can create an AvF game every time... I’ll think it over, but I’m going to have to focus really hard on the GvI challenge, will likely take all of my available brain power for at least the first set of games (point being there may not be a second set of games for me, which would free me up to sign up here)...

Such series should not rank in plain order of showing up...

First, some time for sign ups should be set, to a especific date for final signups; when all the starting participants are defined, they are placed in REVERSE ranking order (1v1 ranking); then, the challenges begin. And, only then, new participants are added at the bottom!

This is how we have sorted out in vdiplomacy, and it makes more challenging for the top players, who actually must climb the tower!
