What makes you think so? Just that it seems like a popular time?

I have played some live games (very) early in the morning before, and I live in Central European Time (GMT +1, or GMT +2 in the summer). I then tend to meet players from the American west coast, who play late in the evening.

I answered it, but:

1. There are 7 days of the week. I would like to select Sunday too.

2. The time options are weird. The main times I really can't do are between 11am and 10pm GMT, with many more restrictions on weekdays than weekends.

3. EST is weird. It changes twice a year so I'd have to change responses twice a year.

Thdfrance seems to have only included times at which he can play. It seems like there are plenty of times at which we could play together, bartogian. I can also play on Sundays.

I meant 12 am EST, actually. Apparently you count 12, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11 instead of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12. Confusing.

But anyway. Since there were so many people responding that they wanted to play earlier, maybe we should make a new survey in which all times on the 24-hour clock are listed. And I recommend using GMT. I can imagine that there could be three groups who could play together:
1) During East Coast evenings and West Coast afternoons;
2) During West Coast evenings and European mornings;
3) During East Coast mornings and European evenings.
But it would be nice to do a survey on this.

This was a really nice initial go that shows many people are interested, but it will indeed require some fine-tuning to gather 7 at the same time.

That being said I'm not sure if this will really change the results. There is still a huge concentration around 8pm EST (1am GMT I believe) with 10 responses for that time (2am GMT has 7). There are 6 people who say the would do times earlier than those listed, so we might capture a more specific point for those responses, but assuming they're spread out over all hours of the day these won't be significant changes either.

I'll put this survey up to see, but I'm less inclined to keep worrying about the methodology of the survey than I am to start hosting games.

I just completed the survey. There is one problem with the survey though, in that it asks for what time it would be best to start the game but doesn't take into account what day. In the survey I answered evenings in my local time, 5pm-10pm EST, because that would be the ideal time for me on weekdays. On Saturday and Sunday I am open to mornings, noon, afternoon, pretty much anytime lol. If I were to add in those times on the survey as well I might as well check off all the boxes

Ok Friends! I'm posting the results of the two surveys. We had 20 people respond to the first one and 8 respond to the second (some people opted to skip some questions, so the results might not add up to these figures). The overall summary is that Saturday and Sunday are the most popular days of the week for us to host the league. The most popular times are between 19:00 GMT and 2:00 GMT (the next day). That being said, the only time slots with 7 or more players were 1:00 GMT and 2:00 GMT on first survey. No time slot on the second survey had more than 7 people able to play consecutively.

With the amount of interest that has been shown in getting this idea rolling forward I will proceed with kicking off the league next week with the first games being hosted on February 1st. I will post later today with the full details and format for the league, but in general I am thinking of hosting three a week with two games on Saturdays and one game on Tuesdays (the most popular non-weekend day). At some point I think it would be really cool to incorporate a leader board system to rank players based on how they perform in league games, but I want to see if we can fill games before building that idea out more.

Thanks so much for making this survey, thdfrance! I think that because we have so much interest, especially on Sunday, even, that we should do more than just classic occasionally... maybe set up a schedule? I know some people are impartial to Classic, but maybe if anyone wants to try Modern, America, or even World, then we should set it up on a day that works best (as revealed by the survey.)
