Video diplomacy

Hi,

I am thinking of starting a game during which you can only communicate with other players in the game using VIDEO. You know, Skype or Whatsapp.

It will be a slow game. Maybe even 3 days/phase.

What do you think? Are there any buyers?

What about allowing Global?

Dargo is right, probably a good idea to host it as a Public Press game so you can exchange contact details more easily. Then again, perhaps PM is actually better for that.. Don't necessarily want to post your phone number in Global, or some stalkers will definitely pick up on that.

Do tell me more. I'm interested. Slow games are best for me, especially given my current schedule. Do you have any idea for the bet size?

I am interested, and I have a follow-up suggestion:

Do you have any interest in publishing the videos after the game, for educational purposes? I have been trying to thing of something different I could put on my blog this year (after keeping that gunboat journal last year).

I'd be willing to participate and would be fine with any arrangements of the rules (public press/full press, posting videos for all to see, etc).

Ok, so the suggestion:

Pot: 50D each
Press: Public + Video + Offsite (Whatsapp/Skype/Phone/whatever you like)
Phase: Due to the timezone differences (I am GMT+2, for example), I suggest long phases - something between 3 to 5 days, with the honor obligation to finalize the moves as soon as possible, to get the game going.
Scoring: Draw-Size Scoring (WTA)

- Anyone who wants to record the communication and share it later - most welcome to do so.

- Anything that goes in FTF Diplomacy is legal.

- Violating any laws is illegal (no threats of violence or real-world blackmail, for example).

How does it sound?

I've played one FTF game. What is legal in FTF that isn't legal online?

I meant that it should be treated like FTF game. IE, if you want to create an alternative channel (video conference with 3 other players, for example), it is legal.

For those of you interested in this, Webex Teams is free, incorporates video chat capabilities, and comes with a large community of Diplomacy players who might also be interested.

I'm still recovering from hosting WDC but would be down for this.
