Can I start a game with less players?
I would like to play with three other friends. Can we have a private game on the Classic map? It looks like we might need seven players...

You might be able to swing something with bots? Might need to be gunboat or the like though, nit sure...

You cannot play Classic regularly with less than 7 on our site. As mhsmith suggests you can play with bots if you host it as a Gunboat. You could still do negotiations via PMs or Whatsapp or Discord or mud wrestling.
You could also try to advertise for more players on the forum.
Lastly, you could play at our sister site vDiplomacy.com where they do offer the Classic map with less players.
