How can you tell if a game you join, either from the start or as a replacement, is build anywhere?

Easy, we do not have the build anywhere feature on this website :)

The Modern Diplomacy variant map has a build anywhere feature, but the other maps on the site strictly stick to building on your home supply centers.

If you are in a game, it gives information on the game on the top. For example:

"1 days /phase (normal)
Pot: 170 D - Spring, 2002, Retreats
World Diplomacy IX, Rulebook press, Draw-Size Scoring"

If you play any variant other than the standard, Classic variant, the variant name is listed here, too. If you click on it (in this case, if you click on the text 'World Diplomacy IX'), you get linked to a place that gives the rules of the variant. Whenever it says "Standard Diplomacy Rules Apply", you can only build in your home centers.

Thanks guys. I am playing in a Mod Dip II, and that is build anywhere, so I wasn't sure, but you cleared that up.
