There are several different features in this forum that may address some of the previous questions.

The bookmark feature on threads allows you to keep track of all the threads you are interested in and then access that list at ucp.php?i=ucp_main&mode=bookmarks which will show you if there are any replies on any of the bookmarked topics that you have not yet read.

Subscriptions are connected to email functionality which we do not have enabled.

For those concerned about the difficultly of seeing all new posts, click the "Quick Links" tab and select New Posts, Unread Posts, or Active Topics, whichever you decide best fits what you're looking for.

Individual people can be "foe'ed" so that their posts are collapsed as a pseudo mute without causing the confusion that used to stem from completely missing posts in conversations.

A combination of these tools will hopefully allow you to customize your forum experience to what you want.

@Tom B, interesting point. Not sure how it's coded now but we'll take a look.

Aaah GREAT! This seems to be the user mute function I was looking for. I will try it out immediately! Thanks! :-D

Yes that worked nicely!

I got this displayed for the user I choose to put onto my Foe list.

"<USER>, who is currently on your ignore list, made this post.
Display this post."

I'll add to the questions:

Is there a way to make is so when you click on the forum thread title (like from the webdip home page) that it takes you to the most recent replies. Right now it takes me to the first posts in the thread, and I have to click to the last page from there. Its a very minor annoyance - just wondering if there is a way around this I am missing.
TomB and jmo, go to control panel (I find it by clicking on "Private Messages" in top right, and then clicking the setting icon).

Choose "Board Preferences" tab, and then "Edit Display Options", Display posts/ time/ descending, and newest forum posts will load top down, with most recent page displayed.

I'm starting to like all the options of this new forum board. I used to mute every thread of non-interest from the home page -- so losing the mute thread option leaves my home page cluttered with forum threads. BUT ... now I do this:
  • I do a quick scan the homepage for new forum posts than interest me.
  • Then open and "bookmark" the threads I want to follow.
  • Then go to my control panel/Overview/Manage bookmarks (*I set a browser bookmark for this, so I don't have to navigate to it every time.)
Voila -- all my threads of interest, sorted most recent updates at top.

I also like the "Your Post" quick links, where I can scan all the threads I've posted in for updates.

Also, if you click on "open" instead of the thread title, it should take you to the last unread post.

But even though I do have him on both my mute and foe lists, I still see messages from CAPT Brad on the wedip front home page. 😩

My question didn't get answered, so I'll ask again. Is there a way to mute the new forum and the topics posted?

No, JEccles, you can't mute threads now. That's why I bookmark the ones I want to follow, as I described below. This reverse look (positively marking threads of interest, instead of muting non-interest) gives me a clean look at all threads I want to stay up on.

Does hiding your online status only apply to the forums or does it to non-anon games too?

Thanks for that explanation. I'm not a fan though, I prefer to have a clean left side that shows only the ones I'm interested in, not a full screen that just shows it in the order of interest. I appreciate all the work that went into this new forum, but I hate to say I don't like it.

The online status on the forum is only representative of forum online activity. It's completely independent of the rest of the site's online status.

I would like a link from a users forum profile to the webDip profile.
