@ Sheep - I believe if you are trying to ask the GM it is best done by stating:

But, a good question given the "0-1" rather than just 1 in the intro

Correct. Town either has a Doctor, or a Cop. There is only one Town PR in this game due to the small number of players.

@Phil - You are right that we know more by the end, but I prefer to have everyone give that snapshot at the beginning of the day as it allows us to highlight them later on when they end up making a huge shift during the day... moreover we get to see everyone's vote at the EoD so a reads list is a bit duplicative at the end.

I agree with Sheep though that I encourage everyone to give reasoning rather than just a list.

His cop peek idea sounds really interesting, but I question if that is actually more helpful for town or for mafia catching cop...

Hm, the "everyone fakes cop" option sounds somewhat dangerous. It requires both the cop and most of us to act competently, which we can't really be sure of. Additionally, there is the matter of the roleblock.

When someone is being roleblocked, are they told so even if they don't have a role?

If the blockee doesn't get informed unless they have an action to block, then mafia could eliminate at least one option per night (even assuming none of us out ourselves by tagging someone incorrectly).

oh lol i said nvm at the same time

re the cop peeking it depends on how good the cop cover is

it definitely benefits town if the cop cover is laid well

if we dont do it and the cop dies before having enough peeks to have the game at auto then we lose all the peeks

like another method i guess is for cop to just breadcrumb/make the peeks obvious in hindsight like after the cop flips we can go back and see at the start of this day phase the flipped cop had a sudden unexplained townread on someone that person might be cop

but it's unreliable because like sometimes people dont mean to do that and just start to townread a member of the mafia and we false clear them i think it's much safer just to try and have everyone leave convincing cover

Does the person who is roleblocked get informed of the block?

I suppose what I could do with respect to reads is to post my reads at end of phase, and then post an addendum afterwards, which specifies what impact the events have on the reads. I still believe in posting reads at end of phase, since it gives us a nice pre-infodump reference point.

I am doing my normal solo parenting until bedtime, a bit after 8 o’clock New York time. The cop peek thing is called “hypo” if you want to Google the strategy. It is a sound technique in a game with a cop but no protective role. I’ll be online to give reads, and more thoughts, later.

@ Everyone - I feel like the cop peek idea is an everyone or no one type of strategy... so I'd like to hear everyone's opinion on it. My gut reaction is that I am not sure it will work well in this game... but I'll try and read up on it a bit.

Ahh I see i was going to crosspost with Teacher... alright Ill look up hypo.

Perhaps I am just misunderstanding you Phil... in my experience the EoD can get a little hectic and it is hard to read everyone's "readlists" ... but as long as I can get a record of everyone's progression and reasoning, I'm not sure it matters if it is truly at the beginning of the phase or not.

GM NOTES:

If you are roleblocked, you are informed of this, yes - irrespective of whether you had an action to be blocked.

The Peterlund Mafia Bot Program will *not* be running for this game, at my specific request. It is a wonderful tool but I also think it can become a crutch. I believe newer players will gain something from having to play without it, and actually read the thread.

Really the EoD readlist doesn't matter so much, since we know who is going to die then. I do think we could get some information from them even then, since the flip right afterwards will provide context and such, but if the EoD is chaotic, then that takes precedence of course. EoN readlists should be compulsory.

I would treat the readlist as part trying to convince others to vote with you, part leaving a public, immutable record.

Agreed that whichever way we decide on the cop fakeout, we have to all do the same thing.

Ah, crossposted. This definitely does make the cop fakeout strategy a lot more viable.

Whichever way we decide on that, I imagine we'll want to be claiming roleblocks. A simple roleblock claim isn't enough to clear anyone, since scum could just hold their block and claim, but it is still data.
