Dang, if only Ryan Reynolds was born within that timeframe…
That's the only Canadian writer, actor or director that you know?

Note that he could still be a regular writer and not a screenwriter.

Is this person largely known for involvement in the TV or movie industry?

Just for the record, I think Alaska is part of the continental US, and Hawaii is not part of North America.

Largely known as an actor?

I think that is right. Problem is someone asked about Alaska after I'd already answered he was not born in continental US. I can only answer 'em the way you all ask 'em. I have corrected the summary though.
Largely known as an actor?
Yes, although not exclusively.

1,3,7,11. Real dead, male Canadian, born 1901-1939.
13. Died younger than 80.
4,12,14. Largely know as actor (but not exclusively). May also be famous for writing, or film directing, or even other pursuits that have not been excluded. Some of those pursuits pertain to the TV or movie industry.
2. Not famous for athletics, STEM, politics/government or royalty/nobility. Did invent something, but this is not what he famous for.
5,6,9. Born in what is now Hawaii or Canada.

Good find. I've been struggling to find the "invention" category, Lorne Greene appears to have invented a stop watch that runs backwards (not much of an invention if you ask me)

I was just explaining to my wife the other day how wonderful it was to eat at Ponderosa restaurants as a 11-year-old kid with a ridiculously fast metabolism.

LORNE GREENE is correct! How is that Spartaculous is always the one to correctly guess my quizzes?

Born "Lyon" Greene (which I was hoping would trip you up on the "E" in first full name question), Lorne Greene was first a journalist (which I was also hoping to trip someone up with) - the voice of CBC Radio during the War. Known as the Voice of Doom. Later he was Pa Cartwright in Bonanza, and starred in the first iteration of Battlestar Galactica.

Congratulations!
