I'm kinda with reedeer, it makes sense for town to mass check name tags. The only people who are afraid of the Bo_Sox nametag (oracle reveal) are the mafia. Also the Cop, Doctor, and Deputy.
That's 7 out of 17 players.

##Call GM

Is the PEEK at one's nametag a night action or can it be done at any time?

Also, do you have to know you have the GUAK nametag to fire the Fated Gun, or can one just guess that you have the gun to fire it?
I think you can peek at any time.

I was going to ask the second question as well. If you can shoot without knowing you're GUAK, I don't think EZIO will live for very long

##GM NOTE

While they don't technically know their flavor, the player with the GUAK tag is aware they have a gun.

Well I'm definitely not Guak then.

Xorxes, are the odds in favor of the bo role making its way to mafia over time? If so, we should avoid mass peeking for now.

I really don't like how the council once berated me for using a living player in the intro post as an example for how to vote but they're totally fine with a GM making fun of me :(

I can't believe the council allowed this setup with the ghug tag not having a power, frankly.

#Call GM

Do we know how name tags are distributed at game start?

If a player without a name tag PEEKs, does that count as their one use, or can they try again until they have a name tag?

##GM NOTE

Everyone has a nametag (it's your flavor name), 8 of the 17 have special powers attached, the other 9 do nothing. If you peek, your learn your flavor, regardless of if it is powered or not, and it counts for your one use.

I doubt the mafia would ever peek their role anyway while BO_SOX is in play, so I don't see that as an issue. More concerning for them is being EZIO than BO_SOX I would say.

Mafia want to be DURGA (makes scan on them useless) or GUAK (control the random gunshot), so if anyone finds out they're one of them they shouldn't divulge it. Also they don't want to be EZIO, nobody does.

That's an interesting thought. Town have some incentive to peek, if you are under the risk of being myslinched for example.
I still don't get how the Guak role knows he have a gun but not his nametag.

There is no Council anymore, it's more or less been disbanded.

That's a bit weird. yes. ##CALL GM: does GUAK find out they lost the gun when someone visits them?

Any VT has an incentive to peek, as they may get lucky and become a clear if they are BO_SOX and there's no adverse consequences for them to peek. Mafia won't ever peek while BO_SOX is in play, and PRs probably don't want to peek either unless they want to claim.

That's not entirely accurate, Jamie. They just suck.

Xorx, I'm more suggesting we preserve a mass peek for a couple days when bo is more likely to fuck a mafia. Clearing a VT day one is useless cause they'll just die. Though then we can just mass peek and the killer is fucked, which is a great trade. K VTs can peek but not claim I think.

Is there an order of operations on peeking?

Guak should fire late in day two I think.

##GM NOTE:

If the GUAK name moves, the gun moves with it. While the GUAK player does not know they are GUAK in name, they are aware they have a gun, and when that gun disappears. The players are free to deduce the logic needed from there.

Mafia want to be DURGA, HELLENIC RIOT, or GUAK, and depending on the circumstances, they could possibly want some of those powers bad enough to holster night actions to keep that power; and they definitely don't want to be EZIO or DAMMMMDANIEL. In particular, Mafia want to know if they have GUAK but not EZIO on their team. So it looks to me like Mafia have some incentive to peek, even with the risk of Bo_Sox...

I am going back and forth on whether a mass peek'n'claim is a good idea, but leaning against. The main benefits I see are that 1) we either get a town clear or auto-lynch with Bo_Sox (though, as ghug points out, that just makes the town clear a target) and 2) Mafia can't coordinate their name tag claims. Risking outing a PR is bad, though, and the benefit of knowing what Mafia claimed on Day 1 dissipates as name tags swap around and it may not be much use by Day 3 or 4.

It won't be any use by day 3 or 4. It may not be any use by tomorrow. It has the off chance of helping us today, or it could majorly fuck us today. Mass claiming is a stupid idea so long as name tags can move around.

Actually if we mass claim every day, the mafia really can't target anyone, can they?
