Not really. Just enter all holds and see what happens ;)

In seriousness the 1v1 games are more akin to chess where your strategy and tactics matter more than anything. In regular diplomacy, with more than 1v1 players, your ability to talk your way out or support a potential ally are leaps and bounds more important. At least that my opinion. Have you played dip before Efraim?

If you play the 1vs1 variants you're playing Strategy instead of Diplomacy.

In the normal 7 player game you can't really get anywhere on your own. You need to persuade other players to help you, so negotiations are a huge part of the game.

In the 1vs1 variants you have 1 opponent and a clear goal and there are no negotiations. This makes a huge difference to the point where you're really playing a totally different game.
