Strategy for Egypt

so, i am playing egypt in several ancient med games, and would like to start a discussion on strategy.
so what i have learned is that the best option is a strong allience with persia, with agreed control over jerusalem and petra, while he get's cypros and tyre. the reason is that that arangement makes both able to focus in the west, and as in the west, carthege will never agree to egyptian control in leptis and letting carthege have it is vasically suicide, thoose western units are really needed.
any thaughts? any other strategies?
