SkyCon1

#1 Post by OB_Gyn_Kenobi » Wed Oct 17, 2018 6:57 pm

There is a new F2F tournament being held at Big Sky Resort, just outside Bozeman, Montana July 11-14, 2019. It's called SkyCon1 and more info can be found here https://www.facebook.com/events/311003133036322/

It's easy to fly into BZN Airport and arrange a shuttle to the resort. The schedule is one Friday night round and two Saturday rounds. This leaves time for a Thursday night social event and Friday AM group activity if there is interest, as well as time on Sunday for travel home or activities in the area.

There is a room block reserved with special rates. You can make lodging reservations by calling 800-548-4486. Make sure to reference SkyCon1 so that any reservations get the group rate. The group rates we got are good for 3 days before and 3 days after that if anyone is interested in making it a longer stay. Go to www.bigskyresort.com for other things to do in the area if you want to come early or stick around later.

There are a lot of options available for accommodations, feel free to ask about them when you call. Please make sure you stay at a Big Sky Resort property so it applies to the room block, which helps keep the event more affordable.

If you have any questions, you can PM me or just post them here.

You don’t need an excuse. Montana is awesome. Can’t wait to see how this tournament pans out. There is a chance that I’ll be in the area for a game, maybe? TBD.

If brainbomb comes to this event, I expect no less than 20 of you to show up, if for nothing else than to view brainbomb in person. Spectacle.

How can that not be sufficient motivation?

Just FYI, we're 4 months out from this thing.

You should attend.

You should prove that FTF Dip is easier than online Dip by winning this seminal event.

You should attend to prove that neither grizzly nor altitude is any match for the competitive Dip player.

You should come to meet me and be counted among the few here who have the absolute pleasure to know me IRL - yigg, yoyoyozo, durga, jmo, Bo, Balki, Valis, cspieker, shield, daddyO, dancing queen - I need you all to vouch.

I apologize to others I have met IRL that I forgot to mention above. Strive to be more memorable.

I will definitely remember you if you come to this tournament,

See all the posts above for details.

PM me if you need more info or details.

You should absolutely attend.

This would be the PERFECT 1st tournament for anyone looking to get into the infamous FTF competitive scene, in an unwaveringly welcoming and friendly way.

Let WDC and DipCon intimidate you into non-attendance

PM me if you want to know what WDC and DipCon means. They're both actually wonderful events for your *second* tournament.

Hope to see you at SkyCon1!

We are merely three months away from the inaugural F2F tournament in Big Sky, MT.

We are looking at two boards currently and are on the cusp of getting three boards worth of attendees.

If anyone is looking for a 1st time F2F tournament, this would be a great one to attend.

Feel free to PM me with any questions. There are also links at the top of this forum topic to information about the event.

I have to admit, I was tempted by this enough to check lodging rates, but between that being a bad time to take off from work, and being about a $1100 trip in lodging and airfare, I think I'll have to pass on the inaugural and hope for a SkyCon2.

There is a group rate for lodging, which should be cheaper than what you see online. You have to call them to get the rate with the group code "SkyCon1".

Ah, it let me plug in the code on the site and showed all units sold out, I'll give them a call tomorrow and see if the discounts enough to swing it. Would definitely like to see what all the F2F hype is about!

It's Montana, internet is still science fiction here. A fax machine is considered cutting edge.

OK, we're less than 3 weeks away. We are set for 3 rounds of 3 boards. July 11-14, Big Sky Resort, Big Sky Montana.

It's not too late if you want to join us. DM me if you have questions or go to www.facebook.com/events/311003133036322/ for all the details.

It's going to be an extremely fun event with very tough Dip competition.
