What have you been up to?

Hey guys! For those who don't know, I used to be quite active here years ago, and once I started studying two years ago webDiplomacy disappeared entirely from my life. Now I'm curious what the people that I used to talk to have been up to!

Also, this is not really me coming back. Just asking what's been up and see what comes from that. Then I'm probably leaving the forum again, although I might continue to have some private conversations with old acquaintances.

I don’t think anything has really changed in the past 2 years

We definitely didn't get a new forum or anything!

I don’t think I’ve ever actually agreed with her. There’s always a first

Are people going to another dip site...or is interest in dip generally declining?

There's always something of a drop off in the summer holiday season, a bit like at Christmas (which is why our units move in the spring and the fall). Whether the number of games is unusually low for the time of year or not I wouldn't like to say.

As for the forum, it's looking as if site policies aimed at killing it off are bearing fruit. No doubt from a moderation perspective it's a huge success. It's very easy to police an empty room, after all.

May be a slight dip in interest over all as well, but the sense of it is exaggerated at the moment. It’s summer and World Cup prelims just ended, things always cool down for a little bit after a big tournament.

Meanwhile, the largest tournament we've ever had is underway, the 1v1 community is thriving, and the Century League has also just wrapped up. I think we're doing OK.

We even have a nice hashtag going around the forum.

You aren't going to give this up, are you? Some of us actually **like** a certain level of decorum in the forum...

Octavious is right on the money. The change happened to the dismay of many. But the powers that be got what they wanted. So be it.

The problem with millennials is they were brought up to think, that their thoughts actually matter. — things that make people chuckle ——

I am probably older than you, young whippersnapper. I remember the time when people could discuss the issues of the day without cursing or abuse.

Now get off my lawn! :P

Ah, that explains why four of my games were paused at the same time :/

Give up? Lol! That's just an observation, not a crusade. The forum's dead, mate. There's nothing left to save.

Shoo flea. Older and dumber maybe. Take a hike. I’m guessing not older. Dumber for sure

Sigh, is it that time of the year already? The yearly "AH THE SITE IS DYING...oh jmo posted the actual % +- of games from last year and it's not dying, nvm" thread?
