How do the deadlines work?

We started a game at 6.27 pm with a deadline of 1 day. The next day at 6.27 pm the game went to the next turn. A day later, the deadline is suddenly 9.27 pm. How does this work?

I also read somewhere that when every player hits 'ready' the game moves to the next turn. Does it mean that the next deadline is set 24 hours after the last player hit 'ready'? Because it would be way easier if the deadline was at the same time every day for our game.

If all players hit "ready", the phase ends immediately. The phase length would shift to 24 hours after that, in that instance.

The site was down for maintenence for a bit. Some time was added to all games to make up for this, which may have affected your game.

Thank you for your response.

So if we want the deadline to be the same everyday, the fix is to submit orders but not press 'ready'?

Yes.

But watch out - retreats and builds are also phases. If there is only one retreat and the player in question hits 'ready', then next deadline will be 24h after that.

Might be an interesting game option to have a fixed deadline that doesn't move regardless of ready. Maybe it just adds the extra time to the phase?

So, you basically suggest that there should be a game option to remove the ready button?
