Share your talents! (We all deserve a little bit of publicity)

#1 Post by WyattS14 » Wed Aug 07, 2019 8:03 am

Whether it's music, art, graphic design, programming, film editing, photography, etc. feel free to share! I'll start the thread off with a video of me playing piano.

What is this "talent" of which you speak?

When mildly inebriated my skills at the pool table, especially in the aerial game (both when taking shots and fielding), are unequalled.

I have another hobby that's even more obscure than Diplomacy! Seriously!
It's called origami, and while most people know what it is, not many people know that it can extend far beyond mere paper cranes.

I think I'm good at problem solving, but I can't come up with an example. Don't have anything else that's tangible to share either. Decided to post nonetheless, it seems.

Oh, I've got one. Recently someone shared the following problem: He wanted to have another child, but his wife didn't.

I quickly solved the problem by suggesting he knocks up a different female.

The solution wasn't appreciated though.

My talent, as far as I have any, is photography.

Can't help thinking you should have anticipated that and provided a further solution.

I brew pretty good beer and I make pretty good fruit cordials. You'll just have to take my word that they are good! : D

I also paint miniatures. So, so many miniatures... Is that a talent or a curse? Are my 6mm French Imperial Guard Grenadiers a sign of talent or madness?

I knew how to blacksmith once. I guess I'm pretty proud of that. I still think my door stop and my set of tongs are pretty well made.

I'd post pictures if I knew how.

I am a professional videographer and amateur photographer of the world's most intense and craziest weather phenomena with a focus on tornadoes and thunderstorms across the plains of the United States. It gives me a reason to travel to places that nobody else goes to and the ability to tell a different tale than everyone else who wanders like I do. It's a lot of fun and I'll post some of my more recent photos if anyone is interested.

I post to Youtube from time to time but most of my video ends up being used commercially. I'd rather not share my channel since it has my actual name on it. Plenty of you know it already but still.

I don't sell photos, too much work. Here's one from this year.

Um, well... I have made myself an expert on contract law and public sector contract law in particular, a couple of years ago I earned a Masters' Degree part-time while still also working full time. I am now starting a PhD on the same basis, and last year I got my first significant academic journal publications.

Does that count?

I am also a competent but not flashy bass guitarist, and I'm about to go into the studio with my new band to start recording (which I will share on here in due course once we're able to). Our singer has appeared on over 10 commercially-released albums already so she knows what she's doing and I'm happy to be on board.

Like Octavious I am quite good at pool, especially when drunk.

That counts as taking one for the team … thanks, and well done.

I should add this to mine too. We'll have to find time for a webDip pool tournament.

Yeah, I still need to learn how to fold one of those.
