If you had 100% control over this forum would you silence Flum for spamming?

#1 Post by jmo1121109 » Tue Jun 18, 2019 1:39 am

I've heard there's people dedicated to spamming threads in the hope of causing arguments lately. Would you silence someone doing this, yes, no, maybe, just for a little while? I hear there's tons of options now.

Just a friendly reminder not to be a bully on the forum.

I'm asking the questions everyone thinks about but are too afraid to ask.

Yeah, "arguments" is a harsh word. If I had 100% control over this forum I would let him ask questions that you would have locked, so don't listen to me :P

You sure? I don't think about what sexual orientation I would prefer, if it were possible to change it... Maybe that's just me tho...

I would like to think that I would make decisions based on the evidence in each specific case applying the principles & rules and not allowing emotional reasons to influence my decision. The over~arching principle would be that I would have to balance the imperative of making the forum a "welcoming environment" with a desire to encourage robust discussions. So it's not easy.

If I had 100% control over this forum, I would ask why Flum isn't making all of these threads in the Politics forum where one might expect and value spam.

I don't think they're matters of government or politics. Those aren't really the questions he's asking.

I'd call his boss and meet him over lunch, give him a firm handshake, look him in the eye, and tell that sonuvagun to give him a raise, just like how I got my job at the factory in 1965.

It is a tough call though as many of the topics he is raising can easily be seen in political terms. I understood we have a politics forum anyway not because of the topics but because the way certain topics can cause very heated discussion. Probably a better name for the forum would be "Debates" rather than specifically "Politics". I think PlayDip names the equivalent forum like this.

But I do make some in the political forum. I still need to respond to the one I made about vaccines there.

Can we rename the Politics forum 'Debates' just so there's no question Flum should be stuck there? :P

This is the most active the forum has been in like five years. I see like ten threads that are active.

I'd give the man a medal. And then revert the forum to its state circa 2011.

Okay, brought back Yellowjacket. You can check, he's not banned. My work here is done.
