Did he really, or are you joking that the school banned Webdiplomacy, and now he is "gone".

No, he means Alex is currently banned from webDip. His profile states it's due to "severe press violations".

Every one of their passwords is the same. As a joke, I thought it might be funny to see if I could join Global Bones, and now I have it.

I was going to join this game too, but now I have something else to worry about. I have a feeling I won't last long.

Ah, don't do this: it's essentially multi-accounting to bypass a ban: Write up an email first, since this isn't...the best way to go around it.

This just isn't fair at all since a ton of my games were almost over and I have been playing a lot of them since Christmas. Also they never gave me an email asking what happened. The reason I was banned was because me and my friends were playing in a private game with no messaging, but then we decided that we all wanted to message each other. and they didn't bother to look into it and now I'm banned!
Write an e-mail to the mods please, this is annoying... And stupid from you...

Hey everyone, just wanted to update ya'll on the situation. We will no longer be using this website due to unfortunate events that occurred to one of our friends. (We just don't feel that our arguments and concerns can be genuinely resolved) We appreciate everyone here for their kind suggestions and plan on using them in the future when we create our Diplomacy Club.
Peace Out,
Jkump1

I read your posts, and minus the language, my friend group has done pretty much the exact same thing you guys had done on this website almost to a tee. I think the reason you guys were continued to be banned off the site is not because of what you did, but the response to it.

I hope in the future moderators, can give a little bit more leniency to private games, as they are often between large friend groups, and would have press happen in between classes etc etc.

Looks like they migrated over to vdiplomacy. Wonder how long they will last there?

About as long it takes them to realize I'm an admin there too?

Different sites, as long as they follow the rules on that one they'll be fine.

JMO - Sounds like you have an Admin addiction. That much administration is not healthy.
Wondering if we should have an intervention

No, you didn't do the exact same thing. Perhaps you did some of what they say they did.

Our rules are pretty clear about what kind of language is unacceptable. I personally am pretty libertarian... but I agree wholeheartedly about the standards we set here. The banned individuals from this group were banned for precisely what it says on their profiles, now. Unacceptable language. Nothing more, nothing less. Some names, words, and phrases are just not acceptable. Ever. Not in context. Not in 'certain social slang situations.' No. So he was banned. His RESPONSE is not why he was banned. It is, however, why his appeal was denied. The Mod team is actually very willing to overturn bans.

But not when the appeal is without reason, remorse, or maturity.

'nuff said. Let's move on folks, nothing to see here.

Just to, uh, break a few stereotypes:

I'm administrator and a teacher at a Christian school. Not only have we not-blocked diplomacy sites, but I personally GM a f2f game with our Latin classes, which phases bi-weekly. The IT guy's kid is currently set to WTA as Russia for this semester's game, after Germany completely ignores the board state for a pyrrhic victory in France.

It got started when discussing how successful leaders in the Roman republic/empire navigated alliances with surrounding powers, and one of the students wondered aloud whether, on a national level, diplomatic tactics were likely just as important as individual military heroism. One can only submit orders if homework is turned in on time.... a policy which has *immensely* improved homework completion.

I'd really love to use a site like webdip to judge the turns and process orders. (We could do Ancient Med or something more classically themed for the Latin class.) ... BUT: a) I'm not sure of the legality of students getting logins, and b) I've seen the issues with inviting school groups to play... and chose to spare the mods a headache.

@flavius - The solution is: Don't let it interfere with the actual learning (which is what you're in school to do), but... that attitude will help get the administrator and the IT guy on your side.
