Not seeing this. Device being used, browser, and browser version please. Screenshot to [email protected] would be ideal too. Thanks.

Perhaps this was a momentary glitch. I was also trying to lookup who was giving me +1s and that was throwing me errors too:

Your ploy has failed. You'll need to do better than that

Regardless of this issue, stop using window's 8.1 and try Google Chrome.

Flash, is this a real issue or is that a fake screenshot? I'm not asking to be a dick; I'm asking because if this is a +1 whoring thing, we shouldn't ask the moderators or developers to waste their time investigating it.

It is a real screenshot. As a developer myself, I would not waste your time with a fake issue. If no one else has seen it fine, I will monitor and see if I can gather more info if I see it again. I thought perhaps there had been a recent software update which could have caused it.

Windows 8.1 is not a browser (eventually I will probably move to Linux 100% rather than going to Windows 10)...and I prefer my privacy so I only use Chrome for limited tasks. Are we saying for webdip we only care about Chrome/Chromium/Blink based browsers?

Clearly, that’s it. That’s why our site is fully compatible across so many browsers new and old and used worldwide and why new code isn’t merged in if it isn’t.

To rephrase what jmo was evidently not saying clearly enough, please let us know if you can replicate the problem on other devices/systems/browsers, or if it occurs again.

OK, thanks for the clarification.

I am not sure why the snark though. It was a genuine attempt to provide feedback. I was initially just asking if it was me, and I responded with further information when asked. I have donated in the past because I actually cared about the site. I am sorry if you had a bad day, but I would appreciate it if you don't take it out on me.

Yes, I was commenting on your choice of OS and browser in one sentence.

If that was the goal, it turned out poorly. And whilst it may not have been your intention, it came off as if you were suggesting that problems seen on either windows 8.1 and/or Firefox would be ignored.

Again, I am not sure why all the snark. I am kind of insulted that someone would suggest that I would try and fake something like that.

Well if you look back at my initial post you'll see that I asked for the device, the browser and the browser version being used. The OS didn't matter and still doesn't matter to me 1 bit cause it'll cause 0 issues with the phpbb forum whereas the others have the possibility to be causes for problems.

But when you decided to offer it anyway I thought I'd take a minute to give you the friendly tech advise that windows 8 is truly trash in every sense with issues beyond both 7 and 10 to the point that it's already reached it's mainstream end of support date. Linux or Windows 10 are both far superior options.

Firefox is an abhorrent memory hog and has just as many privacy concerns as google, google is just more transparent about how and when they watch you and what they use your data for. Since you mention privacy as a key concern I'd highly recommend taking a look at a TOR/VPN combination which protects you from snooping ISP's which any use of a VPN and firefix only partially does. So I just didn't consider privacy as a viable reason to pick firefox over chrome.

As to implications that we'd ignore your issues based on my 1 line. Please note that in "Regardless of this issue, stop using window's 8.1 and try Google Chrome." I'm very clearly saying regardless of the issue as in: The following comment is unrelated to the problem you mentioned. Which was when you made the snarky comment asking if we would ignore "Chrome/Chromium/Blink based browsers?" in the same post as making what appeared to be the worst tech insult I've been thrown in years "windows 8.1 is not a browser". Your entire post screamed snark and rude so it is what you got in return.

As for bo's question, it seems fair after your post of "Can someone please give me some +1s...just to make sure everything is working OK?".

Anyway, hope that answers your question of why the snark.

As to the issue, I've not been able to reproduce it, and haven't gotten any other reports of it or seen issues on the support page for the extension, so if more reports come in on this I'll look into them but this seems resolved.

I understand that supporting this site is often a thankless task. I am sure that you are spending countless hours on this which no-one knows about or appreciates. I can understand it must be frustrating when people get pissy about how the site works when they aren't prepared to put any time or effort themselves to help out. I try not to be like this...and if you think that I did this now or in the past I unreservedly apologize for it. I am really, really grateful that you have the time to put into this because I definitely don't (my wife will probably beat me if I spend MORE time in from of the computer ).

Having said all this, I can't see your face, I can't read your mind. I can only react to what I actually read. Whilst we are going to have to agree to disagree on Windows 8.1 (at least to my understanding Windows 8.1 has security updates through 2023 vs 2020 for Windows 7 so I can't understand how Windows 7 is better) and Firefox (yes Firefox has been a memory hog in the past it is much better now - I don't know where you get your information about privacy or transparency to say that Chrome is anywhere close to the privacy options in Firefox - I also take extra security options too like using my own VPN at times), taking your comment on its own, I don't know how I could have interpreted it in any way other than the one I understood. As an aside, I think people get way too emotionally invested in their technological choices, a computer is a tool not a religion (except when we are talking about node.js of course  ). My response was to ask for clarification because I was unsure what you were trying to say and I wanted to confirm my understanding. It wasn't meant as an attack and I will try to be even more careful in the future here knowing that you are sensitive to this.

On the joke thing, I **always** try and make it clear when I am joking as I know sometimes things can be misunderstood. Usually I will use the  emoji or something to something similar make it clear. I guess from you and bo's response, I will assume it is always inappropriate to suggest any levity at all in the "Feedback/Bug Reports"...or I will have to make an extra special effort to explain my meaning (of course that will ruin any joke so I probably won't bother).

I am very open to constructive feedback. If you truly believed that I had raised this issue in the wrong way, I would like to to do this better. If you would prefer that a template be followed before creating a new thread here, I will do that. If you would prefer one off questions (I thought perhaps everyone may be seeing what I was seeing) about site behaviour should be put in an email...or put in the "Off Topic" folder I will do that too. I usually try to go out of my way not to unnecessarily piss people off. I hope you can see that we are really both on the same side here.

Whilst I haven't been able to reproduce the +NaN yet, I reproduced the other problem I saw. I clicked on your name to see who was giving you +1s for all your wonderful posts and I got to this URL:

http://webdiplomacy.net/contrib/phpBB3/ ... ostlove/72

When I click on any of the messages (e.g. "Re: The mass exodus" from zultar's +1), I am sent to a page with message:

No route found for "GET /viewtopic.php" (from "http://webdiplomacy.net/contrib/phpBB3/ ... ostlove/72")

Is this a known issue?

I am playing using the 1982 Avalon Hill board. Not seeing this problem at all.

If there is no route found, then that URL isn't right. I don't get that error when I click the URLs you supplied, but I do get weird things happening that don't when I simply visit a profile and click the list of recent +1 actions.
