Didn’t he? I think Hamilton Brian just had to survive G3 with at least one center and nobody soloing, in order to beat you out for the last spot.

I believe I beat him by a point.

Assuming I'm not wrong on that, what are people's thoughts on pushing phase lengths to 36 hours or something for the finals? I feel like these had a lot of time-related burnout. Presumably any game would need unanimous agreement, but I don't really see a downside.

I disagree. 24 hours is challenging in a good way. For instance, it gives plausible deniability for not responding to messages.

I think that while 25 hours does require some commitment the pace makes the games more interesting.

Yeah, that really disrupted the game.
Definitely. Just when I was getting in to a good flow...BAM! Me in a game where I was in over my head.

This is dragging on already and we want it to be longer?

I just want to play a quality game, and none of the games I've played thus far were that. I'll suck it up if my fellow first-tier finalists are more masochistic than me, but I figure it's worth a shot.

I'm having a damndest time getting a decent game here lately. Maybe let's try start up a high GR game when the next one comes out.

Isn't a 'quality game' a subjective experience. For example can it be a quality game for everyone if a player gets eliminated by 03?
For these games the 10 year limit certainly made me, and I suspect many others, play differently than I otherwise would have done. Couple that to the 1st,2nd, 3rd points system and a 'quality game' becomes something different in the League.

Oh yeah, I should be able to get that out tonight.

Sure. It's subjective. All I know is that for the most part I haven't enjoyed this tournament, and while I'm sure there are other reasons, I think the phase length is a factor that could be easily changed without really altering what the tournament is.

The last game of the round robin round is now complete.
Updated scores have been posted to the tournament site
https://sites.google.com/site/phpdiplom ... inter-2018
I'll be sending out links to the final game tomorrow. To give anyone a chance to point out any mistakes I've made in scoring.

Right now it looks like the line ups are:
Tier 1: ckroberts, Tom Bombadil, Thechosen41, Ezio, Stackelberg Follower, The Hanged Man & ghug.
Tier 2: TooCoolSunday, Ogion, The Czech, micha, stefanodangello, Ursa & CroakandDagger.
Tier 3: Loqutus, halt, leon1122, OB_Gyn_Kenobi, SuperSteve, bozotheclown & Yoak.
Tier 4: Zackattack413, TimKB, DemonRHK, halt, Jason4747, King Cyrus & Lazybones.

halt was nice enough to sub into two tiers, but I told him at the time he could only compete in a single final. I'll let him decide which final he wants to compete it and then we'll take the next person in line for either tier 3 or 4. Which would be (Wusti for Tier 3 or mcbride for Tier 4).

I've realized I need to tweak the relegation system as it was set up initially when all the tiers were going to have the same number of people. Which means its a little bit broken right now.

Regarding the 36 hour vs 25 hour thing. For the final if your entire board unanimously approves a 36 hour phase I'll let it fly.
