I’m going to really enjoy this much needed downtime before semifinals start up.

Now that was a well timed and beautifully executed stab for the win.

Wow boom or bust much?

Or will it turn into the nexus where you need two solos to make the finals?

That's mathematically impossible as there's 28 players advancing to the Semis. 37 games total. One solo should seal the deal.

Though if all points are disctributed amongst the top29 players (which is already impossible), 127.6 points are necessary to guarantee advancing.

Advancement from semi-finals to finals last time around the 7th rated person made it in with a 3wd + survivor points (albeit a different scoring system). Which actually, speak of the devil, was wiggy himself rounding out the table.

FYI, per the rules there are only 21 players (not 28) advancing to the semis:

But your point still stands, Claesar. One solo is likely enough.

My understanding is that the number of players advancing to semis was increased to 28 due to the high number of participants.

Update: Because we have a high # of participants, it will be 28 players that proceed to the semi-finals.

I wish I had been more informed of this... Though I don't think it really affects me.

Considering we're approaching the point where whether or not people think 21 or 28 people advance becomes important, I think everyone should be sent a PM informing them of this change in the format.

It is not reasonable to pm every participant for the various information that will be displayed throughout the tournament, such as current scoring, games ending, and information such as this. This is the official tournament thread in the tournament section of the forum, and it seems more then reasonable to expect participants to keep up with this thread.

Especially because there are subs who have come and will come into these games, all important information needs to be *here* and visible to everyone who may join and not just those currently joined.

If you're the best online diplomacy player it shouldn't matter how many people move to semi's! You should beat them all anyway

I do not understand how the solo threat wasn't detected and dealt with spring 06. The move to ionion and the unbalanced positioning of Tuscany vs Piedmont, the 2 vs 1 that existed in Turkey, most stabs don't come presented on a silver platter like that. Excellent job controlling Italy's play.

Hmm, that's not quite what I recall writing. Someone contact a dev about that quote tool being broken.
