I might be supporting HR in getting this show on the road. I haven't been following this thread at all though, so if anyone could indicate what everyone's hoping will happen - that would be lovely.

I notice some talk about automatic creation of games. That's not an option right now due to issues. It's going to be manual labour, so bear with us while we are being motivated with promises of cookies.

Next step should be to get some games going.

So, IF(!) I told everyone to just create their own matches and start playing, what problems could this cause?

The biggest problem right now is the lack of action! So that sounds like a good idea to me :)

Are we supposed to play all 6 group games in parallel? I wouldn't mind. If not, perhaps make sure that everyone starts playing at least one math-up, to avoid delays later on?

In the Challonge, if you look at the groups you will see a tab called "Matches". It suggests 3 rounds, so I presume those are played in sequence rather than parallel.

iirc the matches from the last few were played in parallel, but I could be wrong.

Last fall we played all six of the first group games at once... I am heading out of town tomorrow, until Monday night, so I may join when I get back...

If you fix properly the synthax to name each game and that everybody will follow it could be done by participants.

In that case, I'd need to swap you guys around in case you draw the same country twice. That will happen in 50% of the games. No problem though, I can do that.

Alright, everyone who wishes to start must follow these instructions carefully:

Create two FvA games with an invite code. They must be Gunboats! Otherwise I cannot swap the countries. Follow the syntax for the game names:
S2018 CL - Group 1 - xxxxxxx vs yyyyyyy - Game 1
S2018 CL - Group 1 - xxxxxxx vs yyyyyyy - Game 2

All other settings should be the correct ones (unknown to me). If you're unsure, don't create the games.

If you've drawn France in one and Austria in the other, send me a PM that you'd like them set to Press. You may start playing, or you can wait for me to unlock Press.

If you've drawn the same power twice, pause the game. Send me a PM, requesting a swap. I'll get to it ASAP.

You may challenge everyone in your group.

There may be some mishaps and stragglers, but we'll fix those later. Ghug promised me a cake if I could get this thing happening, so work with me here.
