You are right. Explicitly making it possible to pick and choose the vaccine you would like, at least at this point, would be bad government policy.

People here are even getting picky between Pfizer and Moderna. Some people prefer the three week turnaround for Pfizer vs. the four week turnaround for Moderna (perhaps it is the other way around - I don't remember). I suspect the US may have some problems with J&J because of its lower effectiveness...
