Re: Player active in spite of running out of excused missed turns
FWIW, I agree that it is wrong to allow someone removed from a game for breaking the rules (missing more than the allowed number of moves), to get back in and face effectively no penalty. He may be allowed into OTHER games as long as he is not banned, but should be allowed back into the game in whic...

Re: Practise Orders?
Here's the sandbox I use: http://gamesbyemail.com/Games/Politics/Judge
Click "clear board" and drag units to where you want them, then give them orders.

Re: Rules Resolution Question
To me its counterintuitive that what would normally be a bounce in Province A becomes a loss for me there because of a win in Province B.

Re: Rules Resolution Question
Thank you for those references. It seems counterintuitive that I (as attacking Turkey) am penalized but losing Black Sea, only because I was successful in taking Sev.

Re: PHP 7.0 - 7.2
All games were apparently automatically paused. Can they now be automatically unpaused? At least non-live games.

Re: A rant about Reliability Rating
No one REQUIRES you to check in every day. You CHOOSE to do so when you enter a game with a certain phase length, a certain number of excused missed turns, or a certain Reliability Rating.

Re: Variant rules game for players who like co-operation
Thanks Dioptre. I consider the rules set. Looking forward to the game starting.I'm happy to switch to the four player variant: I/R, A/F, T/G, E by itself

Re: Variant rules game for players who like co-operation
Whatever the rules are going to be, I think all players have to agree that Dioptre (who started the game) gets the final call, but he should announce the rules publicly, here in the forum, before the game starts. After game starts, players are anonymous and we won't know who Dioptre is. Nor would it...

Re: Variant rules game for players who like co-operation
I tend to agree that the alliances could be better assigned. Russia, for example, starts with an extra unit, but that is counteracted by its having to defend both the south and the west. With Turkey as a guaranteed ally, there is none of this "arranged bounce into BLA" nonsense, and the Juggernaut g...

Re: We hear more and more frequently of "the Australian"
So is your position, based on your reading of Victorian history, that we today still talk about "The Hun" or "The Kaffir" as a monolithic generalized stereotype in the exact same way as the Victorians did? Or that the Victorians never used such language?

Re: We hear more and more frequently of "the Australian"
This is typical of Victorian English thought - that foreigners' personality traits could be discerned just by their identification as "the Australian", "the Canadian", "the Hun" or "the Kaffirs." This train of thought could not conceive of these people as having individuality or free will.

Re: Did I do something wrong?
I don't think you did anything wrong in joining a game for novices when you are more experienced. Your point level is open information and everyone can protect themselves accordingly. You may have run afoul by joining a game with your friend, if your off-game relationship with that person was not di...
