Re: How would a supported attack resolve-

A unit cannot cut support on an attack on itself. So the attack would be successful The exception being if the supporting unit is dislodged by the attack. For example: Russia: A Ber-Kie F Bal-Supports A Ber-Kie A Pru-Ber France: A Mun-Ber F Kie-Supports A Mun-Ber Since F Kie is dislodged 1v2, its s...

Re: Being annoying gets you stabbed

Annoyance does not cause me to be more likely to stab someone. Not at all. But it does make it more enjoyable to stab them.

Re: Okokok I need some clarification here.

Absent some other specific circumstance, a unit entering a province has no effect on a unit leaving that province.

A unit cannot cut support for an attack on itself. Army C is dislodged.
Actually it can, if the attack succeeds in dislodging the supporting enemy unit.

Re: Has Diplomacy Regressed to Just Lying?

I tell the truth as much as I can, as often as I can. It makes the lies SOOOOOO much more effective!

Re: Has Diplomacy Regressed to Just Lying?

I'm sorry but when I played back 70's and 80's, seems the game was played with more honor. You didn't have to lie to win. The game was more like chess and you had to think about moves not simply lie. Has the ability of the average gamer dropped so low, that lying to gain the advantage has become th...

Re: Bul/Con fleet swap

First off, it is Bul(ec), not Bul(nc). To answer your question, no, the moves will not succeed. The only way two units can switch places is if one or both are convoyed.

If the diplomacy (small 'd') is right, why not go east and west simultaneously?

Re: 1st Game Played - Reflections and Questions

Welcome to the Hobby, SignalsEngineer! I have been playing since 1980 and I still love the game. If it gets into your blood, it is a glorious addiction. :-) In answer to some of your questions: Unless you are complaining for effect, all is fair in love and war. Only complain if the lie/attack on you...

Re: Luck Plays No Part in Diplomacy

The proposition that luck plays no part in Diplomacy is demonstrably true. In fact, I have a truly marvelous demonstration of this proposition which this forum is too narrow to contain.

Re: Luck Plays No Part in Diplomacy

This has been an interesting discussion. Not the first time it has taken place, nor is it likely to be the last, but interesting nevertheless. No matter which side you agree with, it can be helpful to look at the fame on this level.

Re: New to the game, and advice would be appreaciated

Playing is the best way to improve your game, but you can find a lot of good reading material on the interwebz, a fair amount aimed at newbies. Dip has had more written about it than any board game other than chess and go.

FlaviusAetius, PM me your email address. I will get you on the Observers list. The Observers will have first crack if someone either doesn't confirm participation or NMRs out during the game.

Still need 2 players. Please sign up for what in my opinion is a masterpiece of variant design with a very nice roster of players.
