Re: A Diplomystery: Tracking alliance patterns in a game to 1934

Interesting analysis, though! I'm curious how you decided who was working together and who wasn't- there were some turns there where it's hard to say for sure - and in many games I've been in, I don't think the alliance structure is well represented from the moves. Also, was this a game with press, ...

I think the point Octavious was making is that you *didn't* go for the most recognisable flag:

Re: Auto Move Where Player Has No Choice

The rules are actually quite clear: However, players can end the game by agreement before a winner is determined. In this case, all players who still have pieces on the game board share equally in a draw. https://media.wizards.com/2015/downloads/ah/diplomacy_rules.pdf Having pieces on the board is w...

Re: Managing an Ally's Bad Diplomacy

How should I approach to a person like that? Can I directly say that this will cause his death? In general (without knowing more about this player), I would suggest not doing that. Diplomacy players generally like to be right, and making a big predictive claims that they (obviously) don't agree wit...

Re: Managing an Ally's Bad Diplomacy

You said: > Is it possible to *make* these people understand the danger? (emphasis added) I would say: not with that attitude. Persuasion is not about making people see the world your way (for example, who are you to say that your way is the right way?). Persuasion is about understanding how someone...

Re: More Variant Types Request

Another angle on this - I suspect the reason that webdip has a bigger community is because we have fewer game types. When we added new modes (rulebook press, hidden draw votes, etc) there was always an increase in those game types, but a decrease in the overall number of games being played. Of cours...

Re: Should you ever *not* take Galicia in 1901S?

There’s a cost associated with a DMZ, too. Let’s say for some reason that you 100% trusted each other. There’s a case to be made for moves like Vie-Tyl and War-Gal, as a less alarming version of an opening like Vie-Tyl and War-Sil (which should ally the board against A/R). Similarly, War-Ukr and Vie...

Re: Suggest an Awesome Opening!

But ATC, what do you do if you get in to tyrolia? Well, then you get to have considerable control over the speed of the west (you can slow down Germany, you can speed up France, you can influence the side that England takes), you can keep Italy honest (or meaningfully threaten Italy - which is not ...

I don't think enough Austrias open to Tyrolia in Spring 01. It's especially hilarious if you bounce Italy there.

Re: Don’t have time for games

What do you mean they don’t have time? It’s like one line “if day length less than 28 hours, add more time”. I dont see what’s so hard.
