Did you click save before clicking ready?
Not sure. I usually do but not certain.

Re: Unexpected draw in Bot game

When you say you had just entered orders and clicked to see results what exactly do you mean by this? What did you click? Was the game open on your browser for an extended period of time? I think this has happened once before but we couldn't gather enough information to figure out exactly what had ...

Did you miss the deadline? I think the bot orders maybe are calculated after you enter orders, so if you miss the deadline, then so does everyone else?
No, I was playing non-stop.

Unexpected draw in Bot game

Playing a bot game and the game suddenly ended in a draw with the message "GameMaster: Game was drawn due to at all remaining members failing to enter orders." I had just entered orders and clicked to see results.

This seems rather odd in such a game.

Rage Against The Machine

For some time I have been tracking my performance in Diplomacy on this site. Since the arrival of the Bots I have played them several times, where several equals 45; enough to win with every nation. My record is solo 9 (20%) and party to a draw 4 (9%). This compares to 94 games against real people w...

Stalled bot game

http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=250535 I am playing Austria; on 15 centres and on verge of taking two more from Russia Only other player is France on 17 but no prospect of taking more. My moves are entered and readied but nothing is happening. I guess this a stalemate issue, although I thin...

Re: Playing against bots

Thanks for the quick response. but right now we'd like accurate stats on how often they win etc. If the real player has given up because their position is perceived as un-winnable you will still know that the bots have won. Data would only be wrong if that assessment was wrong, which you will never ...

Playing against bots

Firstly, I greatly welcome the arrival of the bots and offer my gratitude to those that created them. After about 20 games against them I have found my approach differing significantly than a game against mere mortals. It happens when I see the game as un-winnable. Against real people I will keep fi...

Bot game stalled

My bot game http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=248712 seems to have stalled. I missed the last deadline causing a missed turn early this morning (sorry bots). The next deadline shows as 12 hours (?). I have readied my orders but the game is not progressing instantly. I have tried refreshing. I...

Re: AI bots on webDiplomacy: Skynet edition!

If all bots are equal perhaps it is an indication of hard a particular country is to play. The bots are distributed randomly, so no. They play all the countries. Are the bots equal? If so then it would be the context in which they operate, i.e. the country they are playing, that would govern their ...

Re: AI bots on webDiplomacy: Skynet edition!

It's a piss poor explanation, though. You wish to force people to continue playing a game they're not enjoying against non human opponents (who I assume are incapable of enjoying a game) for the sake of a data gathering exercise? So for a chance of maybe improving the experience of members in the f...

Do the points the bots have indicate how good they are?
I wondered about that.

Re: AI bots on webDiplomacy: Skynet edition!

This is to prevent people from cancelling a game when they're getting their ass kicked by the bots as we need the data from the bots performance for possible future retrainings, for tournaments, and for putting an eventual ranking on your profile showing how good you do against bots. Thanks for the...

Re: AI bots on webDiplomacy: Skynet edition!

I have played a couple of games, intending to check out some openings.

What I found frustrating is that "cancel" only works in the first four turns. I know that the bots are not learning, so what is the point of the turn limit?

Autumn/Winter is a good time to see Amsterdam. Not too many tourists and with the leaves off the trees you get better views across the canal.

But I didn't realize he was injured.
Apparently.

In any case, 350+ is an exceptional 4th innings score on any surface and all the ex-Pros are saying that the wicket is worse (harder to score on) than Headingley.

Throw in 0-2 and rain is the only hope; but it's Manchester so ...
